By the time school finished I was absolutely exhausted, and was in no way mentally or physically ready to deal with work or Chase for the next four hours. However, I had no choice in the matter. I willed myself to walk to my car and not whine like a five year old when I saw Chase leaning against it. Of course he smirked and did a three finger wave when he spotted me trudging towards him.

"Took you long enough," he says while I get in the car.

"Well sorry your highness, I'll be sure not to keep you waiting next time," he shakes his head and smiles at me through the passenger window. Knocking on it as a hint to unlock the door.

I take my time to unlock it just to tick him off, but he doesn't seem the least bit bothered when he gets in. Why is he in such a good mood?

"You ready to hang out with the most awesome guy in the world?" I stop from trying to jam the key into the ignition and just stare at him.

Ten awkward minutes pass and I"m still staring at him with a deadpan face, while he tries his best not to break eye contact.

"Chase, you're not God's gift to the world. I can hardly fit in this car with your massive ego taking up all the space." He lets go a very exaggerated scoff, and I turn back towards the wheel.

"You'll take that back someday Emerson."

----

Thirty minutes of fighting over the radio, sobbing at his terrible singing, and stupid conversations later we finally got to my job. I don't know how I'm going to survive four hours with this idiot but one thing is for sure, it's gonna be interesting.

"I don't think I've actually ever been to an aquarium before," I hear Chase say while stepping out of the car, and this is a shock to me.

When I was five, I became obsessed with the mysterious creatures that live underwater. I always longed to be able to explore the depths of the ocean, breath the water through my lungs, and see all the beauty that exists there. Hearing that Chase has never stepped foot in such a wonderful place gets me excited for what he's about to experience.

"Really? You've missed out on so much!" I'm pretty sure Chase is surprised to see me so thrilled by the look on his face, but he smiles in excitement as well.

"I can safely guess that you love your job then?" he asks while we make our way to the huge building, navigating through the huge swarms of people.

"Oh yeah, it took a lot of work to even get the job here. I was a volunteer for a really long time, and finally after a coupole of years they gave me a work position." I answer, but then look back and can't see him through the throngs of people.

I let out a small scream when a random hand grabs my own from behind, but then realize that it's not a murderer when I see Chase materialize from the array.

I try to pull my hand free from his, but he grips it even tighter, "trying not to loose you in the crowd buttercup, now keep going so we don't get trampled."

I could say that i noticed how sturdy and stron ghis hand was, or felt the few tiny scars etched into his skin. I could divulge that I felt tingles run up and down my arms when he slid his fingers in between mine. I could confess that I actually enjoyed having Chase's comforting hand wrapped aorund mine, but I won't. I am not going down that road that every other girl has went thorugh with Chase. I have to be calm and collected at all times, and never let this boy get into my head, or better yet, my heart.

We finally make it to the side entrance of the aquarium, so I pull out my handy-dandy identification ID and use it to unlock the door. Before entering I look down at my left hand, which is still being held by Chase's, and then look back up at him. Thankfully he gets the memo and quickly lets go of it, stuffing his hands in his jean pockets instead.

After letting out an awkward cough, I lead the way inside.

I know this is really short and I'm sorry!! The next chapter is going to be really long and full of sweet moments so this one is kind of like a teaser:)
