The Overuse of Magoi

"Oh my... what kind of monster is this?" A feminine voice spoke up from above everyone. Everyone turned to see a pink-haired woman with a rather large number of people behind her floating on a carpet bearing the Kou Empire symbol.

Princess Kougyoku and her attendant, Koubun. Kougyoku orders Koubun to heal Judar, while she, by herself, starts fighting Ugo with her Djinn Weapon Equipment. She manages to pierce a big hole in her opponent, killing him at the same time.

Kougyoku is proud of her victory, but gets attacked by Aladdin. She doesn't understand why, as she only saved them from that monster, but once she learns that Ugo was on Aladdin's and others' side, she orders Engi, Entai and Enshin to get rid of them. While the members of the Fog Troupe, plus Sinbad, his Household, Lucy and Morgiana, fight against the monsters, Kougyoku prepares to use her full body Djinn Equipment. She is stopped by Sinbad, who manipulates her magoi to reverse the Djinn Equipment. Sinbad also calms down Aladdin, reassuring him that his friend is still alive. Then, he asks Kougyoku to meet her somewhere more appropriate, and she agrees. The Princess orders everyone from Kou to prepare to leave and once they do, Aladdin realizes the familiar eight-pointed star on his flute is gone.

Everyone who is fortunate enough helps out tending to the sick and wounded. Lucy and Morgiana are working hard together to get everyone situated. The Fanalis went off to check up on Alibaba, earning a small snort from the blonde. Morgiana raised an eyebrow at her but ignored it and jogged off to find Alibaba.

Lucy sighed and stood up, wiping the small sweat that formed on her brow.

"Hey! This kid isn't breathing!" A man shouted a few feet from Lucy. She widened her eyes and took off towards the commotion.

"Uh-ho! Is he alive!?" Another shouted. Lucy dove to the ground and scooped up Aladdin in her arms. Morgiana and Alibaba came over and kneeled on the other side of Aladdin. Sinbad and Ja'far came walking over, having heard all the yelling.

"What's the matter?" The King asked.

"Sinbad!" Lucy shouted as his eyes widened. He took a look at the glowing flute in the boy's hand and gasped.

"Take his flute away!" The King commanded as he ran over. Lucy grabbed the glowing flute from the boy's hand. It pulsed in her hands for a few moments until she felt the world spin around her.

"Lucy?" Ja'far asked as he noticed that she had begun to sway a bit. Soon, she collapsed onto her back. Sinbad gently caught her head before it hit the ground, his violet eyes filled with worry.

"W-Wha--?!" Alibaba shouted as he held onto his blue-headed friend.

"What happened to them?!" Morgiana asked as the golden flute stopped glowing. Sinbad carried Lucy in his arms and Ja'far carried Aladdin. They swiftly took the unconscious duo into an unoccupied room and laid them on the empty beds.

"Aladdin is very weak. He is holding but... he is in danger." Ja'far explained as he removed his hand from the boy's forehead. Ja'far's harsh training with magoi manipulation definitely came in handy at the moment.

"What happened?! This is worse than in the dungeon!" Alibaba said worryingly as he leaned over his friend.

"He used too much magoi. Magi can draw upon unlimited magoi but only while their strength lasts. Aladdin ran out of strength and couldn't gather magoi from the rukh anymore. Then he filled the flute with the magoi from his own body. And that meant drawing upon his life force. Human life is one of the natural phenomena the rukh achieve through magoi. If his magoi runs out, even a magi can die." Sinbad explained as he stood beside Lucy's unconscious figure. The whole room stayed silent until Alibaba spoke up.
