"And that's what happened the opening ceremony." Serendine said with a smirk as she looked at Sinbad's shaken figure.
"I announced the creation of a new empire right during the opening ceremony... not only that, I stirred up a rebellion with the army Serendine is commanding..." Sinbad said while looking down at his hand with wide eyes.
"That was the work of your Metal Vessel, Zepar right?" Ja'far asked with a frown.
"Right. Zepar is a Djinn that controls sound. I kept quiet about this before but his special sound waves can interfere with the human mind or spirit. And thus, I am capable of controlling my target's body." Serendine explained.
"Meaning, you took control over our king's spirit. When did you begin using this ability?" Ja'far asked with cold glare.
"During the clash between Zepar and Valefor." Serendine said blankly, recalling the time when Sinbad agreed to spar her with their metal vessels.
"Did you already have this plan in mind since back then?" Ja'far asked, his glare becoming harsher.
"No. I still did it so I could use it sooner or later anyway.... But i failed. The plan was originally to kill Barbarossa on the spot... but he managed to flee. Still... it was to be expected. So now I'm moving on to my next strategy." Serendine said. Sinbad was still gripping the sheets and Lucy placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey... What are you saying? What are you talking about? Do you have any idea what you're saying...? You... you manipulated me for your selfish desires and threw my country into a revolution... You know all about it! About everyone's feelings as we were creating this country.... Our wishes, our confidence... You stepped all over them!! Do you really think nothing of all that?!" Sinbad asked with pure rage.
"Yes. I have no feelings like that anymore." Serendine said with cold eyes. Sinbad leaped from the bed and grabbed the front of Serendine's clothes, pulling her up to face him. His golden eyes were wide with pure hate for the woman he held before him. Though Serendine just stared blankly at him.
"You... Enough." Sinbad growled.
"Then what are you going to do? Barbarossa already return to Parthevia and started military preparations. In a couple of days, his army will get here. As a merchant nation, Sindria does not possess an army. So, are you really going to send away valuable military power like me? Or will you kill me... and try to make amends with Barbarossa by bringing him my head. However, that too, is impossible." Serendine said as she raised her sword. Before anyone could react, she stabbed it into her chest, making everyone scream in terror. But her wound began to shrink, and soon it disappeared. As if nothing had happened
"It... It can't be.... Your wound... healed...?" Sinbad asked as he took a small step away from the girl in front of him."Exactly. I am not human anymore. In order to make my deepest desire come true, I even gave up my human body. Sinbad, fight by my side!" Serendine yelled as her lifeless eyes widened.
"Help me defeat Barbarossa. Otherwise, this country won't survive!! You cannot refuse. Because if you do. I can just take over you with Zepar again. And the situation the Sindrian Kingdom is in right now will not change. You've got no choice... but to fight." Serendine demanded. Before anyone could respond, s soldier burst into the door of the crowded room. A female soldier burst into the room, frantically looking for her commander.
"Excuse me, Miss Serendine!" The soldier yelled.
"What is it?" Serendine questioned, turning her attention to the woman.
"Barbarossa has officially declared war against Sindrian Kingdom! Right now, the Parthevian Army is marching and they are heading this way a lot faster than we had expected! The first army will be here soon!" The woman declared with beads of sweat coming down her face in worry. Serendine narrowed her eyes but kept her face neutral. Sinbad, Lucy and the generals were left in shock.
"Did you just say Barbarossa officially declared war against the kingdom on Sindria?" Sinbad asked, trying to confirm if he had heard right.
"Yes. And soon enough, the Parthevian arm will get here." The woman said. Serendine let out a small sigh. Even Masrur had a shocked expression.
"That's faster than we thought." Sahel said as she hung her head for a moment.
"No, they've probably got bigger motivations." Tamira said as she put her hand to her chin in thought. Ja'far and Vittel both ran over to their king for answers.
"Sin, what do we do? If this keeps on, Sindria will become a warzone!" Ja'far said frantically.
"And even if we were to send a message to Parthevia, it's already too late! What do we do?!" Vittel yelled. Sinbda cast his gaze to the ground, letting his bangs over his eyes. The two generals called his name. Lucy scrunched her brows together as she grabbed Sinbad's hand, trying to give him some reassurance. He quickly glanced over to her with determined eyes.
"I get it. We're going to fight too. No matter what we try to do now, the war is still going to happen. Right now, we have no choice. So, let's attack Barbarossa with all we have!" Sinbad declared as he gripped tighter onto Lucy's hand.
"But.. I'm not doing this to help you. It was my own decision. I will noy allow you to just do what you want anymore." Sinbad said as he narrowed his eyes at Serendine. SHe returned his glare with one of her own.
"Right. However, do not forget that Zepar is still inside your mind." The princess reminded the king.
"That's fine. I don't mean to run or hide." Sinbad said. The room quieted as the two leaders glared at each other. Though their silence was interrupted by Judar waltzing into the room.
"Are you finally done talking, Serendine? For real.. That was way too long! I was getting bored." The child magi said as he strolled into the room with Falan right behind him.
"Judar. And Falan... but why?" Sinbad questioned as he took a defensive stance.
"Why? Because I became Serendine's magi and I decided to come here with her. Are you an idiot?" Judar questioned as he waved his wand around. Ja'far steamed as he raised his fist to the child.
"Don't call him an idiot!" Ja'far scolded angrily.
"Oh really, Freckles?!" Judar yelled back. While those two were off in their own scuffle, Falan decided to speak up.
"We are simply collaborators who are in favor of this change. Barbarossa's tyranny has turned Parthevia into a horrible country. I am a Royal Court mage. This is not what I'm meant to be doing. Please let me aid you in defeating Barbarossa." Falan spoke, keeping her emotions neutral. She glanced to Lucy, still trying to figure out why she seemed so familiar. But her thoughts were cut short when Ja'far spoke up.
"Sin." He said, gaining everyone's attention. He stood there with Drakon, Hinahoho, Mystras, Vittel, Mahad, and Masrur. Sharrkan had to return home, to Heliohapt, to visit his sick mother. Lucy frowned to herself has her thoughts plagued her.
'I haven't read this far into the Adventures of Sinbad story... I only knew up until after we got back from the Dark Continent. I've been winging it the best I could...I am not sure how this ends...' Lucy thought as she gripped the ends of her nightgown, that she has not had the chance to change since she and Sinbad were interrupted during their sleep. Though her thoughts were interrupted by Ja'far.
"We decided to follow you. We, the eight generals, are loyal subjects of our king and queen. Whatever we do next, will be what our leaders decide." Ja'far spoke. Sinbad turned to Lucy. She nodded and squeezed his hand. Sinbad nodded with a swell of determination filling inside of him.
"We will fight. For the sake of our country."
