A week later

Zach

I sighed, closing the door to Daniel's car and removing my backpack from my shoulder. "I can't believe he still didn't show up to Spanish class. He hasn't been there all week" I ranted, huffing. "In a way, maybe it's best he doesn't show up. It's not like he ever wants to see me again" I mumbled under my breath, pouting at Daniel.

He pulled out of the school parking lot, driving down the road only half concentrated. "It just makes no sense to me, you've got to be missing something out. There's no way the infamous Jack Avery pulls you into a room at a party and then randomly tells you he never wants to see your face again. Jeez what did you do to him up there, kill his family?" Daniel joked as he turned a corner.

I rolled my eyes, lazily tilting my head to look at him. "Want me to run through it again for you? Cause if I remember correctly it went a little like this;"

I started imitating a boisterous dumb voice as I recited Jack's words. "Hey, come upstairs into this room with me nerd. Turn on the lamp. What are you doing?!"

I switched my voice to a high girly voice when I spoke my part, which caused Daniel to laugh. "I'm sitting on the bed!" I imitated in the high voice as I moved my arms about to dramatise my performance. I switched my voice to the one I had assigned to Jack yet again.

"No dumbass that's not what I meant. Ugh I never want to see you again!" I growled, sending Daniel into a fit of laughter. I shoved him as the car nearly swerved, reminding him to keep his eyes on the road.

"I'm sorry Zach, I'm not trying to kill us I just can't get over how funny that must've been. I would have payed good money to watch that happen!" Daniel wheezed. Finally he had pulled up in front of his house and the two of us clambered out the car, bringing in our school bags.

As soon as we got in, we threw our bags on the floor and ran up the stairs, but before we could reach Daniel's room his sister Anna was in the hallway. "Hey Zach!" She greeted with a sweet smile. She turned to her brother and gave him a dull expression. "...and Daniel" and she scoffed, narrowing her eyes.

She looked back to me and began twirling a loose strand of her blonde hair around her finger. She had the same bright blue eyes as Daniel, which like his always sparkled whenever he looked at something he liked.

Daniel let out a loud groan, breaking the silence. "Anna stop flirting with Zach! I don't know how many times I have to tell you he's gay," Daniel spat out in an irritated tone. Anna only folded her arms as she pouted at Daniel.

"Hey, a girl can still dream!" She yelled at him. She took a deep breath, looking back at me.  "Well I'll leave since obviously I'm not wanted here," she began, shooting a quick glare at Daniel out of the corner of her eye. "But Zach, if ever you wake up one morning and suddenly realise you're not into dick anymore you know where to find me" she hummed, sending me a quick wink.

I let out a little giggle. "Thank you Anna, I'll keep that in mind" I replied with a kind smile. She turned around and walked back into her room, closing the door behind her. As soon as she was gone Daniel elbowed me in my side, causing me to wince in pain.

"Ow, what the heck was that for?!" I whined as I walked into his room and jumped onto his bed. He closed his bedroom door and sat down next to me. "For flirting back with my sister. Even though you're gay it's still not cool" he argued.

"But Daniel, I've been thinking, maybe I will sleep with Anna" I playfully joked. His eyes immediately widened. Before I could stop him he grabbed a pillow and whacked me across the face with it.

"WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!" He yelled at me, ignoring my groans of pain. "Because I know how much it would piss you off, and I live to annoy you" I retorted, grabbing the side of my face that hurt. "She won't want to sleep with me if my face is all messed up though" I pointed out, laughing. Daniel snorted. "Then I guess I'll have to beat you up" he warned playfully.

I suppressed a laugh, which earned a pout from Daniel. "What's so funny?" He asked, folding his arms over. I raised an eyebrow. "You really think you could fight me? What are you gonna do, bitch slap me?" I teased, rolling back with laughter.

Daniel stuck his tongue out at me. "Fine, then I'll get Jack to beat you up" he threatened with a smug smile on his face. I rolled my eyes, sitting up. "Ugh, don't even mention him. He probably wants to anyways, even though he's avoiding me for the rest of my life" I sulked, pouting as my shoulders sank.

"Don't be so dramatic" Daniel scoffed, laying down on his back. "Tomorrow's Friday and we have Spanish last period. You never know, there's a chance he could show up," he suggested, a look of slight optimism on his face. I shook my head doubtfully.

"Why would he ever want to?" I sulked. Daniel scoffed. "Alright, lets make a deal. If he shows up to class tomorrow, you have to go to the game with me" Daniel insisted, an evil smirk on his lips. "There's no point, he's never going to come-"

Daniel cut me off. "Well then you have nothing to worry about. Do I have a deal or not?" He asked. I thought for a moment.

"Fine, deal."
