"I told you I would win!" I yelled at Eben, sarcastically smiling at him. Eben rolled his eyes at me. "Barely. And it doesn't even count cause you're more like a garden gnome than a human with that short ass height" Eben mocked. I stuck my middle finger out at him.

"Shut up man, you didn't even get half as many points as me" I retorted. Eben folded his arms over, ignoring me. Suddenly, a voice from behind us spoke out. "Jack's right. Short dude's got game."

Eben and I both turned around to see Josh standing at the door of the gym. The door opened and the rest of the guys on the basketball team slowly began flooding in. Josh jogged over to us. "You guys ready for practise?" Josh beamed with a wide smile.

Eben returned his smile. "Yeah man, but you should've skipped class with us" he stated, patting Josh's shoulder. Josh shrugged. "I mean, some of us don't need to skip class to seem cool" Josh retorted, taking a hit at me and Eben.

I winced. "Ouch, shots fired man" I joked. "Buuut, I've literally seen you skip class before just to fool around with girls in the school bathrooms so I don't know why you're trying to act innocent" I added, looking at Eben as the two of us laughed.

Josh rolled his eyes yet still a smile spread across his face. "Whatever guys, just quiet down cause coach is coming" Josh informed, pointing to our basketball coach who was walking over to us.

"Boys" he greeted, giving a short nod. We returned his nod, standing up taller. "Josh, run the team through some warm ups, I need to go talk to the cheerleaders about tonight's game" he instructed turning to walk off.

"But coach, the girls are in the changing rooms" Josh called out, confused. The coach turned back to give him a glare before ignoring him and continuing to walk out.

"What a weirdo" I mumbled. Josh only shrugged. "It's whatever I guess... the only thing that matters is he's a good coach. But anyways, where the fuck are Jonah and Corbs?" He questioned, looking around.

As if right on cue, the two walked through the doors. Immediately we noticed that Corbyn was walking in sadly, while Jonah had a sympathetic arm around him.

"What the fuck happened to you?" Josh asked as the two joined us. Corbyn only sighed in response. "Alright, tell us later cause I gotta go take these idiots through some warm ups" Josh dismissed, jogging up to the front of the court.

He yelled to get everyone's attention and talked them through the warm ups. Once the team were all busy doing a few stretches and exercises me and Eben turned back to Corbyn and Jonah to talk.

"Ok, so what happened?" I blurted out impatiently. Corbyn looked up to me with sad eyes and a pout on his lips. "After class I went to my locker only to find that someone had completely destroyed it. There was even blood on it from when they punched it or whatever they did to it... It's all beaten up!" he pouted, looking up sadly at Jonah.

I bit down on my bottom lip, shooting a nervous side glance to Eben. Shit, I accidentally beat up Corbyn's locker. Of all the lockers I could've punched it had to be his?!

Eben seemed to catch on pretty fast, and his eyes immediately travelled down to my bruised hand where traces of blood were still left on my knuckles. Without thinking I lifted my hand to take a quick look at it, but Jonah and Corbyn immediately noticed.

"Shit" Jonah gasped. Corbyn's eyebrows creased together in concern. "What happened to your hand??" he asked sympathetically.

I nervously swallowed, immediately feeling my mouth dry up. "Uhhh..." I trailed off, my mind completely blank. I stood there frozen and not knowing what to say until thankfully Eben butted in and saved the day. "Oh, you know Jack, he was busy beating up some freshman earlier" Eben lied, casually waving his hand as if he were trying to dismiss any other suspicions.
