"Oh my god, I see him. He's going in!" Eben whispered, ducking down slightly. We were all crammed into Eben's car, waiting to see Jonah enter the restaurant with Tate, and by "we all" I meant Eben, Josh, Corbyn and I.
"I put the hoodies in the back seat next to Josh, pass them around" Eben ordered. Josh grabbed the pile and tossed everyone a hoodie. Once we had all put them on, Eben unlocked the car and we all clambered out.
"Hoods up bois, and remember, lay low and don't get caught!" Eben reminded us. We all nodded, pulling our hoods up to cover our faces as we entered the restaurant.
It was a casual place, yet luckily really dark inside. We spotted them at a table near the back of the room, so we decided to sit in a dark corner booth to avoid being spotted by Jonah.
"Can I sit next to you?" Corbyn whispered to me. He'd been stuck to my side the whole time we'd been here and I could tell he was anxious, so I decided not to be too mean to him. "Of course bro" I responded, climbing in to the booth and leaving space next to me for him to slide in.
"So, what did you have in mind to mess with him?" Josh asked Eben. Eben returned his question with a sly smirk. "You have no idea" he replied, slowly nodding his head.
I shook my head, laughing. "Oh god no, what did you do?" I asked lightly. Eben shrugged playfully, trying to hold in a laugh. "Oh, nothing much. It's just that while we were at practise I may have changed my contact name in his phone" Eben responded nonchalantly as if it were no big deal.
"To what?" Corbyn asked nervously. Eben grinned evilly. "To baby with two hearts" Eben chuckled. Josh's jaw hung open in surprise. "That's evillll bro" Josh laughed, patting Eben on the back.
"But first, I wanted to make sure something gets done" Josh stated, pulling up a menu to hide his face. We waited until Jonah and Tate had ordered, watching the waiter walk away. Just as he was passing our table, Josh waved a hand to call him over.
"Hello boys, what can I get for you?" The waiter asked. He was an older man - past his fifties - and he had a thick french accent. Josh smiled politely, taking down his hood for a moment.
"Well hello there! I actually have a very important request of you. You see that table over there?" Josh asked, pointing at Jonah and Tate. The waiter nodded. "Well, our friend asked us to change his order for him" Josh lied, batting his eyelashes innocently.
"Eh, are you sure about this?" The waiter asked with a confused expression. "Oh yes, certainly! You see, he wanted us to order the correct meal because it's a surprise for his girlfriend" Josh explained, adding on to the lie.
"So what he really wanted to order was the most expensive meal on the menu for both of them" Josh informed the waiter. "What a lovely gesture! How sweet of you lovely boys to help your friend" the waiter responded with a smile.
He jotted some notes down on his pad and walked away from the table. "We did it boys" Josh snickered, putting his hood back up. Corbyn was nervously playing with his fingers, obviously uncomfortable with the situation.
"Time for the call?" Josh asked. Eben nodded, smiling as he pulled his phone out. "Time for the call" he repeated. He unlocked his phone, found Jonah's contact and pressed call.
We all watched anxiously as we saw Jonah's phone ring on the table. He picked it up to see who was calling, and as soon as he saw the name on the screen a look of panic immediately crossed his face.
I held back a laugh as he switched off his phone and shoved it into his back pocket, his face pale. Tate looked at him with a concerned expression, probably asking who was calling.
