Zach

"Zach. Uh, Zach..." Daniel called, an awkward expression on his face. I looked up to him, humming lightly in response. "Yes?" I asked, unknowingly smiling.

Me and Daniel were sat opposite each other on a lunch table, me on one side and him on the other so we could face each other. Daniel discreetly indicated for me to look behind him at one of the tables.

"Why the fuck is Jack Avery smiling at you with puppy dog eyes from across the lunchroom-" Daniel began, nothing but utter confusion and obliviousness circulating his tone.

All I had to do was raise my eyes and they immediately caught with his, taking no time to search him out on the opposite side of the room. When he noticed his gaze being returned by me he tore his eyes away, the hint of a smile present at the corners of his lips. I looked down at the table, trying to hide my blush from Daniel but it was almost impossible not to smile from ear to ear.

"Hmm? What do you mean?" I nervously asked, playing dumb. Daniel squinted his eyes at me. "You're telling me you have no idea why Jack is looking at you like he wants to take you home and bake you cookies? He looks like he's planning out picnic dates in his head for gods sake!" Daniel exclaimed in frustration.

"Ain't no way I'm the only one seeing this shit!" Daniel muttered to himself, shaking his head in dismay. I tried to repress a snort. "Are you sure we're talking about the same Jack Avery?" I questioned. Daniel turned around to look at Jack and then looked back at me, rotating once more to look between the two of us.

"Yes we're talking about the same fucking Jack Avery!" Daniel yelled. I nervously hushed him, hoping no one heard his loud ass. I looked up at Jack again, noticing he was now resting his chin on the palm of his hand, his eyes trained on me. He raised his eyebrows teasingly when he noticed he had got my attention.

I rolled my eyes playfully, looking away from him again. I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of letting him know he had my attention even though he'd been running through my mind all the time lately.

Daniel grunted, bringing my attention back to him. "Tell me now. Did you butfuck Avery into being your bitch?" Daniel snorted, although he mostly sounded like he wasn't joking. "WHAT?! NO!!!" I stuttered out in complete shock.

Daniel shrugged. "Are you guys on good terms or not?" He asked bluntly. I bit my bottom lip for a second as I thought. "I don't know. How would I know? There's nothing going on there." I lied.

This was the first thing I'd ever kept from Daniel, and I knew from the start it would be hard. Daniel sighed. "Good. I don't want you hanging around him, ok? He's not safe and he's definitely not good for you."

I sighed, slumping in to my seat. "I know what you're gonna say, you're just looking out for me, and I get it." I mumbled. Daniel nodded. "Once an asshole always an asshole" Daniel stated affirmatively.

"Makes sense why you are the way you are then" I retorted to him. Daniel gasped, throwing a piece of food at me. "I prefer the term bitch, thank you very much!"

I chuckled, shaking my head, even though the inside of my mind was going crazy working overtime with thoughts. How was I gonna keep this from Daniel? Was I gonna be able to keep it from him?
