Opposites Attract

Chapter Seventeen

Tarkik's POV.

Gasps and whispers arose all throughout the crowd. "Make no mistake, I am speaking the truth. I know there has never been a time where a wolf is mated to a werewolf, but I do not lie. She is my mate," I confirmed again. I made sure to use my alpha voice so everyone could hear me.

The whispers continued, it seemed that no wolf truly believed this. Anger built up inside me. I looked at Sunna, whose eyes showed her nervousness. Three wolves stood up and many wolves turned their attention to the wolves standing. I looked to see it was the three wolves Sunna escaped with. They looked around and waited for the other wolves to quiet down.

Range spoke first and I made sure to channel his voice through my power as alpha so everyone could hear him, "I know that almost all of you have no idea what happened in the cages we were kept in. I know many of you did not see what happened in those cages. We were tested on and parts of us were taken from us. Those werewolves want to be stronger than us and they would do anything and everything to do just that. And that meant taking werewolves from another pack and testing on them.

"That werewolf was trapped in a cage similar to ours. Her pack mates were tested on and all of them eventually died from the experiments. I know most of you did not see how she comforted all of them as their time came to an end, how she mourned for them, how she fought for them. And when she found a way to escape, she chose to risk her life and help us. She led us out of the cages and the building and into the forest where we ran for the border. Even when whatever experiment was affecting her, she fought through the pain and kept running on.

"I know she is not a wolf. Yet just because she is a werewolf, does not mean we should judge her without reason. She may not have shown me how she leads. She has shown me her strength, her bravery, her care, her intelligence, and her mercy. As I see it, I see no reason as to why we should not give her a chance to prove herself."

Once Range was done speaking, Rock had something else to add on. "Those of you who know me, know how much I despise werewolves. However, that werewolf has changed my thoughts and opinions on her species. She has shown me that not all werewolves are the same and that there are good ones," he nodded to Sunna, "and there are bad ones. Which is quite similar to wolves. I would not have a second thought about calling her Alpha Female."

Whispers broke out again as the three wolves sat back down. I looked at Sunna again to see her reaction. She was still nervous, but she seemed thankful for what Range and Rock had said. I could feel her determination and confidence start to grow. She wants to show them that she can be a worthy leader, so she stepped out in front of me. I raised an eyebrow in curiosity.

She inhaled and exhaled. "I know what I am." Silence fell over the wolves in front of me, many of them seemed to not believe that it was Sunna who spoke. "I know how physically different I am from you all," gasps sounded from the wolves in front of us as Sunna continued to speak, "but I am not very mentally different from you all. I think similarly. I have family and friends that I care for. And I will always care for my native pack because that was my home.

"This new war only makes me worry more for them, but I will always understand duty comes first. I want that werewolf pack gone as much as any of you and I will do whatever needs to be done. Not for revenge, but so no one else has to feel the pain they create.

"I know many of you won't trust or respect me right away and I understand that. I am an outsider and a different species, but give me a chance to prove myself. Let me show you how I could benefit you all." I smiled at my mate. Not once did her voice break and she stood confidently in front of her future pack. I could tell she too was proud of herself for her speech.
