Tarkik's POV.
I laughed again and I could tell she was enjoying this moment. "As you know, I am the alpha of this pack. My beta has found his mate, but they do not have pups yet. My gamma has not found her mate yet.
"My gamma and I are very close, probably closer than my beta and I." She gasped quietly, she probably has not heard of such a thing because it is very uncommon. "Our pup lives were very... connected." I stated distastefully. I hated my father and what he caused Gamma to go through. That story was for another time. "Anyway, my pack is very large. It could be the largest wolf pack.
"I care a lot for my pack and I try to be the best alpha I can be," I told her. I continued to talk about how my pack worked and about different stories I had about my pack. I also told her about my pack's history and all the hardships we went through. I even told her about the brewing war between my pack and hers and the pack with the insane alpha.
She explained about her pack relationship to that pack and how much she hated them for the trouble they have caused her pack. We talked about the war they were likely to create. I could tell she was worried about it, so I tried to reassure her. However, we both knew it was most likely to happen and that there would be a lot of lives lost.
Because the topic was so heavy and depressing, I changed the topic and started to talk about the pups of my pack. Her eyes lit up and I could tell she enjoyed this topic a lot more than the other.
She seemed to love listening to me. I looked up to the sun causing me to notice that dusk was approaching. "Can you not give us more time, Sun?" I sighed.
She frowned. "Is the sun like your god?"
He returned my frown. "Yes and no. We do not believe in gods like you may. Most wolves believe that the sun, moon, and stars are powers. They are the Trinity of Life. We believe that those three powers help to keep the world balanced. They control life and death and day and night. They give and take. They guide and mislead." I paused before looking deep into her eyes. "They are opposites, yet neither can be without the other. They need each other. They attract each other despite being opposites."
"Opposites attract." I tilted my head at the phrase. I have never heard it before, but there is a lot of truth behind it. "It is something humans say a lot."
"Well, they are not wrong." I replied. "Gamma told me that werewolves believe in the Moon Goddess. Is that correct?"
She nodded and explained, "yes. Werewolves believe she is what created werewolves and werewolves also believe that she is what pairs us with our mates."
"Seems to be very similar to the Trinity. We believe that they find mates for us by finding out who is the opposite to balance us. So they would look at what we are lacking and what we exceed in and find someone who is opposite to that."
She looked at me in wonder and I stared back. "I think the Trinity hit the spot by pairing us. We are rather opposing to each other," she remarked and laughed.
I laughed too. "Yes, it was quite a surprise to learn a wolf and werewolf could be mated together."
"I think when my pack finds out, they are going to flip out and cry to the moon goddess in confusion," she thought out loud as she looked out to the view in front of us.
"Why do you talk about the Moon Goddess like only other werewolves believe in her?" I asked to draw her attention away from her pack. She seemed resistant to tell her pack.
She sighed. "I've never really believed in her because of Sky's past and my past. It's pretty complicated, but I just never felt like the Moon Goddess was there to help us." She paused and something seemed to dawn on her. "Sky and I are like opposites and when we aren't fighting we seem to balance each other. Maybe it's the Trinity that puts together a werewolf's soul so that the wolf soul and the human soul help each other in different ways."
