Follow Up

Blaise's POV

I was shocked. Was that hermoine? And that too with Theo? What miracle had happened in the past days for such an outcome?

I stood there with an open mouth. Draco stood beside me with the same shocked expression as mine if not more. This was something none of us had expected. I definitely thought that it would be me to have a private meeting with Hermoine before any of my friends and love rivals. Oh come on blaise! Find a way to impress hermoine before somebody sweeps her off the ground. With the immediate pressure I was feeling, I came up with a plan. Tomorrow morning I will surely do justice to my competition.

That smug smile Theo presented will not remain long.

That was another problem. But did Hermoine really say that if Theo asks she will go on a date with him? Were they close already? I hope not. Is she interested in him? My insecurities had bubbled up. It was the first time I had felt such ambition and determination.

As soon as they left, I turned to draco." Did that really happen or were my eyes playing tricks on me?" I asked.

"no mate. It was as real as my love for the apples. Minus the lip to lip connection" he replied.

"yeah. You didn't have to be so specific and example oriented. I mean what had theo done? I guess we should leave our plans to woo hermoine" I told him with a little hope for him to fall in the trap. I mean it's possible if he withdraws from the bet, I would have one less rival.

"hmm sure. I understand your decision Blaise. If you want to , you can. I, on the other hand, am not that easy to be tricked and leave the game." Draco mischeviously winked at me understanding what I had meant to do. I swear on salazar's tongue that he is the real devil and having him as my friend is scary and reassuring at the same time.

When I looked at him, he mirrored the same look as mine and the same shine in his eyes as mine. We both nodded to each other in understanding and started following the disappearing pair.

We started following them. They were probably headed towards the library. Not so surprising since after school Hermoine was always in the library if not with the Golden Trio. Just a few meters from the library,Theo started speaking in an oh so cute voice that we had never imagined him to have. I and Draco looked at each other in surprise. He mentioned thanking Hermoine for the private lessons for potions. Potions? He needed help in studies? Apart from hermoine, draco, a ravenclaw kid I don't know the name and the diggory kid, theo was the next smartest student in the campus. I smirked what a good play he did. Seriously why hadn't I thought of that. The conversation was not audible at all parts but we could hear what we wanted.

Then he played the pity card when of being untrusted due to a slytherin house. What a joke! Everybody will agree that Theo is the nicest Slytherin whom the whole school willingly talks. But that didn't surprise me as much than what hermoine had called him. Cute? Sweetest? I muttered that bastard. I heard Draco hiss under his breathe. I guess we both were taken aback.

Then they reached the library and parted ways. I and draco loked at each other confused. Hermoine moved towards the corner seat while Theo vanished in the book racks. We moved towards Theo with swift slides but he was nowhere to be found. Then we heard "hey guys. Following me and hermoine? Desperate much?" he mocked. But neither me nor Draco wa sin the mood to joke.

"Theo , oh how come we didn't know you wanted help in potion? You could have asked me ,I am better than hermoine in potions" Draco said more like mocked.

"even if that is the only thing he is better than her but it is true . why didn't you ask us?" I muttered earning a glare from Draco.

"oh please you think I needed help? No I wanted to spend time with her. Also there is not only us three fighting for her. There is somebody else too and I felt it as my responsibilty to destroy their study date. That is why I resorted to this matter and this way." He answered nonchalantly.

"else? Who?" Draco inquired.

"see for yourself" he said and left us looking alarmed and confused.

There, we saw theo approach them from the back. But couldn't see the face of the mysterious man. He seemed shocked to see Theo. I smirked knowingly that it was very Theo of him to spoil their fun date this discreetly and innocently. But the face surprised me. That was Cedric bloody diggory. Why did all the smart kid have this idea of a study date and I didn't? i am sure it would suit me more to seek academic attention than these people.

An hour had gone by which we had spent looking at the table of the trio and Theo sitting between them, uttering jokes making hermoine laugh freely. I felt jealous of theo at that moment. I wanted her to smile because of me. But there was also a moment of peace of mind since the date was spoiled. At the end we saw hermoine bid good bye to the boys and left for her head girl duties which made the head boy AKA Draco smile. I was the only one who had done nothing yet. That will change tomorrow. 

We saw Cedric leaving the library solemnly after a brief interaction with Theo who had a smile plastered to face the whole time. Soon draco left too. The heads position had a lot of benefits. And I could never understand this better than today. 

I left the library to prepare for tomorrow's surprise. I can't wait for tomorrow anymore.
