Chapter 14

Lexa was in the garden and Kai walked up to her.

"I actually heard you this time."

"Seems like you're having fun."

"They're having this argument about who Rico is dating."

"Really?"

"It's pretty interesting actually. My best bet is that he's doing them both."

"Okay, I'm cutting you off. No more vamp hearing."

They burst out laughing.

"What's on the schedule now? What can I learn?"

"Getting greedy are we? No but...um...change of plans for tonight. I'm ordered out."

"Again?"

"I'm just going for tonight and taking Tyler, Sami and Max with me."

"Tyler?"

"Yeah, he's getting close now and these are the final tests."

"So you'll be back tonight."

"Yes, but late. Go to sleep and I'll come and say goodnight when I'm back."

"You know, if you keep doing..." Kai went to kiss her. "..this...kind of stuff...I'll...I'll get used to it."

"You talk a lot while kissing."

"I'm making conversation."

They both laughed.

"So what am I supposed to do while you're gone? When are you leaving?"

"I'm not sure when we leave but don't you have to study?"

"Oh shit! I totally forgot about school! I've been wasting my time listening to gossip. Have fun when you go out. I have to get Vanessa and then study!"

"You know, I can be the one supervising you too. It doesn't have to be Vanessa."

"If you are the one watching me I won't get anything done. See you later."

Lexa vamp-ran inside to get Vanessa. Kai walked inside and bumped into Jolene.

"Hey..." Jolene started but Kai walked away. "Look, I know I hurt you...and your father..when I left but..."

"Let me guess, you had your reasons."

"I did."

"Good, then you can stick to your reasons."

"I understand that you are mad, but..."

"I'm mad because of the way you talked of Celeste. You have no right to come here and talk to her, of all people, like that. Do you think I'm mad because you left? I don't care that you left because the second you did, my mother died. You're staying here because dad is letting you, but don't expect to have...anything. There is nothing between us and there never will be." and Kai walked away.

Later that night, Kai walked into the club with Tyler, Sami and Max...

"Okay, we're just going to spend some time here."

"We're not feeding?" Tyler asked.

"Are you hungry?"

"Yeah...kind of." Sami replied.

"We'll share one." Kai said.

"All of us?" Max asked.

"Yeah, meaning everyone only gets a sip or two." Kai explained. "Tyler, go pick someone."

"Why me?"

"They already did it last time." Kai said. "Get going and charm someone to go with you. No compulsion."
