Forced Vampire

Chapter 18

Lexa was standing in her bedroom...

It feels so great to be back in my own room, and my bed! God my bed! I've missed it so much! And my clothes, my normal clothes. Okay, enough with the sendimentally. I have to get dressed and head off to college. I'm back to my old life. I even got to keep my job because apparently Kai compelled my boss to let me take vacation. Hm...Kai...will I ever get over him? The one guy I could imagine myself sleeping with and it didn't happen. Let's just get dressed before I ruin my mood for the rest of the day.

Lexa put on a grey crop top, grey trousers and a denim jacket.

Last night when I hugged Nicole I felt the urge. Her blood really got to me and I was really close to her neck but the thought of hurting her. I could do more than control myself, I didn;t actually bit in. I didn't want to hurt her. That's what I think will be the thing keeping me from losing it. The thought of hurting anyone, not just Nic makes me sick. Celeste explained ways to get blood while out here. There's the obvious one, drinking from a vein and compelling them to forget. But other than that, I can keep stashes of blood bags in my room. They get blood bags from a guy, a vampire who works at the hospital. They pay him and he gives them blood. She said I could do it too but that I had to say "Rome" for him to trust me. That's how he'll know they sent me. So I should make the time and go see him at St.Prile's Hospital. I think his name was Gregor...something. I've written it down so I'll be fine. I'd totally forgotten about my phone. Can't say I've missed though. It's not like I used it that often anyway.

Nicole walked up to her in the hallway.

"You ready to go?"

"Yup!"

"It feels so good to have you back!"

We went arm in arm and it felt so normal, so right. It feels so good to be back to my normal life. Everything except for...Kai...

They arrived at the college...

"Okay, I respect the fact that you don't want to talk about it yet. But at least tell me if that guy from the club had anything to do with you leaving?"

"Yes, kind of. I'll explain everything tonight."

"I knew it! I saw him a few nights ago and kind of went at him. Okay, let's go to class."

Lexa walked in to the classroom...

"Do you mind if I sit here? It's kind of the only seat available." Lexa asked a guy on his phone.

"What if I do mind?"

"Well, I guess it sucks to be you then."

"Just kidding, take a seat."

"Thanks."

"I'm Dan by the way. Or really it's Daniel but, well..."

"I'm Lexa."

"Lexa huh? Why haven't I seen you around? It's not like you're a girl I could forget seeing."

"I could say the same about you."

"Would you believe me if I told you I've been a studen here for three years?"

"No. Have you?"

"I have actually. I've never bothered to attend the classes. I should have though, might have been worth it."

"Let's begin, shall we?" Professor Schmit asked.

Lexa was taking notes and Dan was just listening.

"This is why I don't come, are you hearing him?" he asked.

"No, but I'm trying."

"Trust me, I'm much more fun to listen to than him."
