Silence greets Mark when he opens to front door to his house, and it's not something uncommon. To Donghyuck, however, it's slightly jarring.
It's never radio silent in his house, so although the quietness had initially smacked him in the face, he can't say he doesn't like it.
Mark drops his keys down onto a key tray, instinctively wrapping an arm around Donghyuck's waist as he leads them deeper into the house.
"Are you hungry? I could attempt to make you something," Mark chuckles, always reminding Donghyuck that he's a disaster in the kitchen. But it's fine, Donghyuck thinks it's cute anyways.
"Honestly?" The younger starts, turning around to face Mark until their chests were flush. He wraps his own arms around Mark's waist, pressing his cheek flat against Mark's chest. Donghyuck finds himself in this position more often than not, but Mark doesn't complain, rather he relishes in the fact that his person on its own is a primary source of comfort for Donghyuck. "I just want you."
"That's sweet of you, baby," Mark chuckles, one hand coming up to mess with Donghyuck's hair. "But you can't eat me. If you're actually hungry, and you don't want me to potentially destroy your meal, we can order something? Anything you want, sunshine."
Donghyuck melts in Mark's arms.
"Anything?" He repeats, lifting his head up to look at Mark through his eyelashes.
Donghyuck is adorable.
Mark wants to keep him in his pocket.
"Anything." The older boy agrees, nodding in affirmation.
"Japanese food? I've been craving katsu," he asks timidly.
Mark wants to erase any sense of uncertainty Donghyuck may feel with him. That's not the point of why he's here right now, and it's certainly not the point of their relationship.
He makes sure he holds eye contact with Donghyuck before speaking.
"Whatever you want, Donghyuckie, I'll do my best to make sure you have it." He says seriously, conveying unspoken words through his statement.
Mark knows Donghyuck catches the implication with the way he blushes, cheeks dusting themselves dark and ears giving themselves away.
"It's just katsu," he mumbles, flustered as he tries to escape Mark's embrace.
But Mark won't let him. Not until his affection and feelings are deeply rooted into Donghyuck.
"Even if it's not just katsu. Even if it's massaman curry. Or moo shu. Heck, even tteokbokki." Mark can see the way Donghyuck is trying not to laugh with his constant takeout metaphors, and he himself lets a smile come onto his face at the ridiculousness of the situation. "Even if you asked for the rarest flower. Venus. The entire galaxy, Donghyuck, I'll do my best to make you happy. And I don't ever want you to forget that I'll go through Hell and back just to see you smile."
Donghyuck is teary eyes for the nth time today, but leave it to Mark Lee to be the only one who makes Donghyuck cry out of happiness instead of sadness. Joy instead of anger. Love instead of hate.
"Minhyung," Donghyuck whispers, not wanting to break the delicate atmosphere between the two of them. Yeah, they look dumb standing in each other's arms in a random hallway, no space between their bodies, but it's everything Donghyuck's ever wanted. It's comfort. "If I could do one thing for you, do you know what it'd be?"
"What would it be?" Mark asks, still whispering.
"I'd give you an orange blossom everyday." Before Mark can ask what orange blossoms mean, Donghyuck is already explaining. "An orange blossom symbolizes innocence. It means that you're my motivation. It means that I'll love you forever."
