As the bell rang for lunch and the students were packing up, the teacher turned to them from cleaning the blackboard to tell them what she had needed to at the beginning of the week.
"Don't forget, you need to sign up to a club by the end of the day otherwise you won't have enough credits to graduate at the end of next year."
"Okay!"
Joining her friends in their usual spot, they had their greetings and started to chat about clubs and what ones they were joining. They each gave their response but their attention then turned to Ayako as she had been rather silent throughout the conversation.
"Are you planning to join any clubs this year, Ayako?" Cora questioned her friend.
"I'm thinking about joining the steampunk club." She replied.
"Why that club?" asked Mirio.
"I'm sure you all know about how I love steampunk and making things."
"We're aware of your passion, we're just worried is all."
"Look, if you all are worried, why don't you join me to check out the club?"
"Would the club even let us come in to see it?"
"Only one way to find out, let's go."
They went over to the club and Ayako knocked in the door as she entered and apologised for the intrusion. Everyone went back to class as the bell for class rang after everything had been sorted and Ayako would have to make something over the weekend and present it on Monday. As Ayako was walking home with her friends, she had somehow found herself catching one of her friends as she had tripped over something.
"Are you okay, Ayako?" Rose asked her.
"Yeah, I'm fine." She confirmed. "What did I trip over?"
"A box with parts in it."
"Should we turn it into the police?"
"I'll take it home and hand it in tomorrow morning before school."
"Promise us you won't make whatever it is that's in the box."
"No promises."
"Fine, but if you do make it please disassemble it immediately."
"Okay."
Ayako couldn't help herself by making whatever it was in the box she tripped over Friday the previous week and she felt guilty about not listening to her friend. If she was going to join the Steampunk Club, however, she would need to present it to them before disassembling it.
During lunch that day, she was looking over her work and wondered if she should join her friends on the school grounds.
"About time you took me out of that infernal bag."
"Who?"
"Let go of me."
"Gah! What are you?"
"I am a fairy from the box you put together yesterday."
"How are you able to peak? I didn't give you a voice box."
"There was a voice box in one of the drawers, but I put it in when you were sleeping last night."
"That explains a lot."
"My, oh my, what do we have here?"
"Who are you?!"
"That's Dan. A member of the group that took my home from me."
"And you forgot your parting gift."
"Do I even want to know what he wanted to give you?"
"Not really, no."
"Get down here, Chuuya!"
"Chuuya!"
Backing herself into a corner, Ayako wondered if the crowd below on the school grounds could see what was happening or not. Looking over to the fairy who had started talking to her, she saw it in the monster's grips and wondered if she should do anything or not. Looking to see if there were any camera's and seeing that there weren't any, she stood up and jumped for the fairy with no apparent reason as to why she was.
"What are you doing?! It's dangerous for you to be here!"
"I don't know what I'm doing! My body is acting all on its own!"
"Why don't you give up and save yourself the trouble?"
"No!"
"What?!"
"I don't want to give up and leave the fairy alone."
A light soon caught their attention and a pen was left in its place. Grabbing the pen with no idea what to do, she looked to the fairy for a clue on what to do.
"She's one of them."
"One of what?"
"Shout, 'Precure! Wind my gears!' to transform and you can defeat this thing."
"If you say so."
~ ~ ~
Precure! Wind my gears!
Clicking the pen and drawing on air, Ayako got a high waisted layered skirt and a long sleeve shirt that went around below her shoulders. Placing her feet into a circle gave her mid knee boots and stockings.
Long ponytails were made in her hair mid back length garnet hair with the change to more of the rose tint. A top hat on a hair band soon followed and the pen made room in a bag which manifested from it.
"May these wings help me to fly in the light of love. Cure Butterfly!"
~ ~ ~
"What happened to me?!"
"You transformed into a Precure, but I'll explain later. As for now though."
"Right, on it."
Kicking and punching seemed to come naturally to the transformed Ayako and she used the chained fence to her advantage and tried to keep the fight on the roof so as not to disrupt the school grounds several meters below. Once it had been cornered, Ayako had no idea on how to get rid of the monster in front of her.
"How do I get rid of this thing?"
"Just say your finisher."
"What is that exactly?"
"Just say whatever comes to mind."
"May my wings save you poor soul. Precure! Butterfly Tornado!"
The monster disappeared and so did Dan for that matter. Changing back into her regular form, Ayako felt tired but realised she had to get to class.
"Before I put you back in my bag, what's your name?"
"My name is Chain."
"Good to meet you Chain, I'm Hagaruma Ayako and I have a favour to ask of you."
"What is it?"
As Ayako came to a stop at the Steampunk Club's door, Chain looked up at her and wondered if this was a good idea or not.
"Is this a good idea?"
"I hope so."
"Need I remind you it was your idea?"
"No, but I'll need to help around the club and other such things. I'll also need to not talk about the Precure business if you understand."
"I guess I can understand what you're saying, so okay. I'll do it."
"Thanks, Chain."
"No problem."
"Let's do this."
After presenting her project to the club and letting Chain say some basic sentences to prove it could talk on its own, the Club President congratulated her on a job well done.
"Welcome to the club, Hagaruma-san."
"Thanks, Simin-san."
