Walking through the streets, Ako and Gina were looking for a place to get some knots and bolts for a school project when they came to a store that seemed to sell parts from small to large projects.
"How about this place?"
"This shop seems interesting, let's have a look inside."
"After you."
"Thank you."
Entering the store, the signaling of the bell alerted a worker and when they popped their head around a shelf, they were surprised.
"Good day, Gina, Ako." Ayako greeted them.
"Good day, Ayako." They responded.
"What can I help you two look for?"
"I was looking for knots and bolts for a club activity."
"And I was looking for some tools for my sibling."
"Okay, right this way and I will show you both to where you need to be."
"Thank you so much, Ayako."
"No worries."
Leaving the store with her friends, Ako asked her friend when she'll be finished with work.
"I should be done in an hour or so."
"Okay, just text one of us when you're done so we can hang out."
"Sure thing, see you two later."
"Later."
Texting Ako when she was done with work, Ayako made her way to the park to meet with Ako and Gina. Waving to the two when she saw them, Ayako ran the distance between her and her upperclassman.
"You're pretty fast, Ayako." Gina pointed out. "Have you considered joining the track team?"
"I have as I was in track during elementary school but didn't join the track team when I entered middle school." Ayako sat with the two on the picnic rug.
"What was your reasoning behind joining the Steampunk Club instead?"
"Steampunk is a thing I have always enjoyed and I thought joining the club would be fun and that joining a club counted as credit, but I'm starting to think it all may be a lie teachers use to get students to join clubs."
"You're not wrong about that and I just had an idea."
"What may that be?"
"Why don't you sign up to race at the school's sports event?"
"I'll think about it."
Walking home in the late afternoon sun, Ayako's mind was starting to wander back to what Gina had asked her earlier that same day.
"Why don't you sign up to race at the school's sports festival?"
"I don't get why she had to ask me that of all things, I'm not that good of a runner."
Entering the house, Ayako called out to her parents to say she was home and was rather surprised to see her two older brothers in the living room.
"I wasn't expecting to see the two of you home," Ayako commented.
"Ayako!"
"Get off of me."
"You don't seem happy to see us."
"I had quite a day and seeing the two of you isn't helping my mood."
"Welcome home, Ayako."
"Hey, Mom." Ayako greeted her halfheartedly. "What's for dinner?"
