Chapter 20

Morning light awoke me, and I slowly opened my eyes, as my brain processed the newest information. To keep it short we fucked. And it was not half bad to be completely honest. It's just- im very confused...

I stood up, my bed empty. The covers were tossed aside, cushions laying all over the floor. It was a rough night. But he...was gone. He left me, after I fell asleep in his arms. Maybe sleeping with him was a mistake
Not thinking all too much about it, I went outside, entering the main hall. Gon and Killua were chasing each other, like little kittens, and I got myself something to eat. Shortly later, we landed in order to proceed with the Hunter exam.

It was a small boat that took us to the island. A bunch of contestants got seasick, and a few even quit the exam. Mainly out of fear I suppose, since the 4th exam surly wasn't all to easy. Two days, alone, on an island, filled with whole ass capable people who could easily kill you. I glanced over to Hisoka, only to see him talk to Illumi. Weird, I haven't seen him in a while, nor have I sensed his Nen once in the trick tower.

I looked away, and watched the first contestants draw a batch number as their target and leave the boat.
#03...#08...#11...#35...#38...#43...#44...#57..and so on. I waited about one and a half hours until it was my turn. Walking towards the examiner I drew my number. It was 99, my own brother. What a coincidence....

—>Two days later<—

Catching Killuas batch wasnt all to hard, but keeping others from catching mine was a drag. All 48h, I had to keep my guard up. Not that that was anything out of the ordinary for me, but my mind was filled with thoughts and questions, so I did lose my concentration once in a while. After those 48h were over, we got together, and counted points and surviving or passing contestants. I checked:

24 entered the 4th exam - 10 succeeded.

10 of us were left. And one exam to go. I thought, as I got back onto the boat, sitting next to Killua.

After succeeding this exam, we were told we would shortly arrive at our last station. As we entered the large hall, Beans, that small green jelly looking guy, awaited us. He told us to wait until our name was called, and ensured us that it would take too long. Then, he shut the door, and left us alone.

Gon and Killua looked at Kurapika with big eyes, and asked him all sorts of questions, mainly about when the next meal was gonna be. I chuckled, and walked over to them. Saying hi to both Leorio and Kurapika, and greeting Gon with a handshake we both thought of, I sat down next to them. For a couple minutes, we talked about this and that. Which exam was the most difficult, which the easiest. Which one was the most creative, which killed the most contestants and so on. Simple statistical questions, without all too much personal information given out. You never know, even your friends can soon become your enemy...
Hisoka and I exchanged a few glances, although they didnt hold very long. It was mainly my eyes always finding rest on his marvelous face, and him catching me stare. I always looked away quickly, but every time I could see his lips form a small and sweet smile. Right now, looking at him, im happy.  I thought as my eyes once again met his, but then a loud creek was heard as beans asked for Hanzo to follow him for a small Interview.

Bit by bit, every single contestant was taken into a small room, facing the Chairman. He would then ask us two questions.

"So, Yami Zoldyck, huh. You surely have impressive history my dear," he welcomed me as it was my turn to enter the small room. "Im wondering, how come you want to change profession? From assassin to Hunter, sounds like a drastic decision"
He commented, not lifting his head from the paper he was currently studying. Looks like a table with names and numbers written on it...  After I didnt answer, he just went on, and asked me two plain questions.
