Chapter 5

Sun light gently brushed against my face, warming it up, and tickling my nose. I opened my eyes, seeing everything blurry. Feeling a rhythmic movement, as my body moved up and down, I blinked multiple times. My head hurt. I didn't know where I was. All I could feel was panic, fear and closure.

Closure? What in the world?

"Ah, I see you're awake now, young lady." That voice...
My body was set down, gently, slowly, like a porcelain doll, in fear of breaking my bones. Those same eyes looked into mine with trust, care, curiosity and interest. He smiled slightly, his mouth twisting into a curved line. I rushed up, wobbling from side to side, balancing on one leg only. Breaking away from his trance, I stuttered "H-hey, Hisoka. I-I What exactly happened...?"

Trying to remember what had happened, I recapped my last memories. I stopped, bumped into someone, and my heart stopped. Was I poised?? Was it gas? Something I might've overseen? No! Impossible, I was so careful. Then, what's lead to me fainting... Suppressed laughter from my right caused me to look up.
Did I just think all that out loud? My face started to glow a reddish color at the thought of him hearing my senseless mutter. His absurd laughter just confirmed my concern, and my cheeks started to really heat up. Shit!! What's happening? The blush spread to my ears, as I noticed him leaning down a bit, staring right into my eyes.

His pupils were filled with such desire and amusement, it was hard for me not to look. "Don't worry, there wasn't any poison involved, I'm sure of that." His voice melted into my ears, as I saw his tongue spell every word softly, with such intimidating charm. I was completely lost in his beauty. "At least..." he paused dramatically, wetting his lips with his tongue, making them shine. "Not the kind of poison you're used to, my dear Cat" With that, he moved away, walking towards Satotz, who was standing on the grass area right behind the now closed entrance.

I fell onto my knees, shivering. I couldn't move, nor even consider standing up. My mind was a mess, my heart was beating like hell and my name echoed through the air.
"C—A—T" It was spoken clear and loud, yet it all appeared so blurry. "Cat...Cat...CAT" My eyes started to water, my breathing got faster.

How? How did he know? I wasn't breathing evenly anymore, but in quick, short breaths. Who else knew who I was? Why did he talk to me, although he knew? I started to tense up, every single one of my muscles being contracted. Why is my heart pumping like that? Why do I feel like I just came of a roller coaster? What's...Whats happening? My face!! It's burning!! Whats....

That's as far as I allowed my worried thoughts to travel, as I shot up from the ground and moved towards Killua and Gon, as well as Kurapika and Leorio, who were all assembled in a small group, talking happily amongst each other.
Don't let him get to you. Remain strong. I wiped the sweat off my face and concentrated one last time, before I ran towards them, happily waving my hand.

"Leorio!! Kurapika!! Gon!! You guys made it!! I smiled, as I stood between the three. Killua just looked at me, being mad about me not saying a word to him. Oh come on Bro. I knew you'd make it. I never doubted you, I just wasn't sure about the others.
"Hey Yami, seems like it was a piece of cake for you, you look like you're still full of energy." Kurapika said, gently smiling back at me. Oh hell na, if you knew... "Yeah!!" Leorio looked down at Kurapika. "Kurapika's right. But lets see what lies ahead of us. The weird fake examiner, who was shot down by that scary magician earlier, didn't seem all that convincing that next location will be a lot easier." He said, nervously scratching his neck of embarrassment. "Yeah you're right. That guy said the upcoming jungle was full of danger. I'm really looking forward to it" Gon replied, with such excitement, I really gotta buy a pair of shades.

Killua only nodded in agreement, as Gon addressed something I'd rather not talk about. "Oh yeah Yami?" He asked, eyes wide opened. "Yeah, Gon? What is it?" I nervously answered him. "The magician clown person, who killed the fake examiner with only one playing card, he was carrying you. You didn't seem all to well. Are you alright?" His question was filled with innocents, as he asked me.
"Ah, yeah well...that, um I just-" Wow, another thing I suck at is not only adjusting to cold weather, but also lying on the spot.
"I- so on the stairs you know..." "She got dizzy from lack of water, and fainted, so I asked Hisoka to carry her. I couldn't, I mean, she is 23 after all, what can a 12 year old like me do?" Killua jumped for my rescue. I pouted, mumbling "I'm not that heavy..." and flicked him on the forehead, but thanked him quietly for helping me. He had an angry smile directed towards me, as examiner Satotz announced for us to follow him again.

—> TIME SKIP <—

20 minutes have passed, and Satotz had warned us to keep together if we want to survive, but I failed already. I lost the other 4 about halfway in, when deep, thick fog appeared out of no where. Now, I was running with a group of guys I didn't know. They kinda all guessed where to go, since no one really knew where Satotz was heading. I decided to stick with them for just a while, in order to calm myself back down again. The Fog was beautiful, almost like a curtain, curving its way around you. As I was just thinking about this and that, I sensed I weird mood shift in the group. They all started speeding up, moving towards the left. I decided to followed them, but used Nen to hide my presence. I saw them all surround a single person, that poor guy, and take out their weapons. With a closer look tho, I managed to identify him as...

Hisoka!!

My heart skipped a beat, as I saw his smile once again. I saw the guys trying to attack him, but then was surprised with something remarkable. He killed all of them, with playing cards, just like Gon told me. He killed them. All. With only playing cards. I smiled. Good use of Nen. But there is something that bothers me. I focused Ren on my eyes, activating Gyo. I spotted something that reminded me of, hmm, Chewing-gum?
It was colored bright pink, and was attached to one of the cards, making it jump back into Hisoka hand.

Interesting...

I walked out of the bushes I was hiding in, and revealed my presence. Hisoka's head shot in my direction within milliseconds, but instead of an expected attack he smiled, seeing my Gyo directed to his Bubblegumthingy.
His soft voice revealed its true nature. "It's called Bungee Gum, and has both properties of Rubber and Gum"

Fuck why do I think thats hot?
I smiled, saying"Well that's rather fancy." And moved closer to him with every step, as he was just stared at me, shuffling his cards. Everything started slowing down, like in Slow Motion. I lifted my head up, and started deeply into his eyes. His did the same, leading me further and further towards him. "How did you know?" I asked, softly, almost whispering, trying not to break the moment. "I'm afraid I don't know what you mean", he said, in the same soft and quiet tone as me, licking his lips. Shit, I want to kiss him.

"How did you know..." I paused. "I'm the...cat?" I whispered the last word in his ear, just like he did, this time, causing him to blush slightly. "Usually, when you're attracted to someone, you tend to know their name. Am I wrong?" He said, in a flirty, playful tone, which only causes my heart to beat more. Fuck, he's so damn hot. I smile, wanting to look down, as he softly tilts me chin back up, bringing his lips near mine. Oh my god. Everybody stay calm. It's happening. He's going to kiss me. I closed my eyes, to feel his lips get closer and closer. I leaned in, standing on my tiptoes, as I heard Leorio scream "Careful Yami!! Hisoka is right in front of you"

My eyes shot open, as I only heard Hisoka click his Tongue, and jump away, back into the fog.

We both parted, without having connected once.

My heart sinks to my feet.
