I was silent on the car ride back to my apartment. I was driving instead of Mitra, as she had been drinking throughout the night. I had a tight grip on the wheel and my jaw was clenched.

I couldn't get him out of my head.

Pulling into my driveway, I sighed as I took the keys out of the ignition. "What are you thinking about?," Mitra asked me, as she turned to face me. "Nothing, really." I lied. I didn't want to admit I was so easily impacted by a complete stranger. "So you get mad at the club and now you think I can't tell if you're lying?" she asked me, a hint of a joking tone in her voice. I half smiled and looked at her.

"I don't know, Mitra. I didn't mean to get all mad like that. I just confused and I wanted answers, which neither Jaxon nor Gabe were giving me." I sighed, looking down at my lap. "I also don't know why I was so mad over some guy. It's not like I knew who he was or anything, but for some reason I wanted so badly to go back to him the minute Jaxon took me away from him. Like, how stupid does that sound?" Mitra sighed, and placed her hand on my arm. "It's not stupid. But we should talk more tomorrow, if you want. Let's just get ready for bed, it's late."

I nodded and stepped out of the car, making my way into my apartment. Mitra usually spent the night here after we went out, as I was closer to the city than she was. As I got ready to sleep, I suddenly realized how drained I was feeling. I couldn't keep my eyes open much longer.

Mitra and I both changed into pajamas, and got into my bed. "Goodnight, lovely Leila" she said quietly, and turned off the lamp by my bed. I laughed softly, "Goodnight."

-

I was running down a long dark hallway. I saw the door at the end of the tunnel, but no matter how far I ran, I couldn't catch up to it. "LEILA!" I heard someone shouting my name. I turned around to see Jaxon. But he didn't look like himself at all. His blonde curly hair was up and out of his face. His usual bright blue eyes were golden, almost shining. And he had..wings? I turned to walk towards him, but before I got to him the ground beneath me broke, and I was falling. I was falling.

and falling, and falling. Until I landed in my bed.

and there he was, the stranger. He was standing at the edge of my bed, looking down at me. "I've been waiting for you, my love." he said. His voice was deep and smooth, I wanted him to keep talking.

But before I could say anything, the warm feeling was rising in my chest again. Although this time, it burned. I felt like my body was on fire. The burning sensation was spreading throughout my entire body, as if I was being burned alive. I let out a gut wrenching scream as the pain erupted throughout my limbs, every inch of me was on fire.

-

I jolted awake. I squinted as the sun was shining into my bedroom. I let out a groan and stretched my arms above me, turning over to see where Mitra was before we fell asleep, but she wasn't there.

I took a deep breath and sat up, grabbing my phone to check the time.
