Leila

Fauna and I barely spoke as she fumbled to fit me into a proper dress for the trial. I could hear my heart in my ears as I felt it pounding against my chest. Fauna stood up quickly as she spun me around, swinging my hair to the side as she buttoned up the back.

"Don't be nervous." She said softly, before turning me back around. "I don't know much about you before you came here, or what happened with your guardians, but it's going to be okay." She said, as she held my hand in hers, squeezing gently. "We're all here for you."

I nodded once as I felt tears pricking at my eyes. I had no reason to be so emotional, but here I was.  The thought of seeing my people again, in the setting they'd be in, made my heart ache.

Lo had briefly explained to me what takes place in situations such as this. Apparently, his as well as the other's parents accompanied mine as what we would call the "jury" back home. My parents being the judge.

I felt like throwing up at the thought of seeing my parents for the first time. My real ones, for that matter. What made it even worse was it wasn't even a reunion for me and them, it was just a trial that I had to watch.

I'd been on Posperpina for 3 weeks now, and not once had they reached out to see me...

I shook my head at the thought. I had no time to be sad over the relationship with my parents. Jaxon, Ariel and Gabe's lives were at risk. All because of me.

Fauna held my hand as we walked behind Lo and Zephyr. They'd taken us to another part of the castle, a part I'd never seen before. It was much less decorated and had a much darker setting. I'd suddenly started to miss how pretty the other side was.

Lo stopped abruptly in front of two doors and turned to face me. "Okay," he said, quickly glancing at Zephyr before turning back to me. "Technically, I was assigned to escort you around the castle for the time you were here. Take you where you wanted to go, whatever. Doesn't matter. Because I'm also your friend. And I know there's a lot of things you don't understand, and a lot of things you're not going to understand, but I'll be here." He said, firmly. "Zephyr and Fauna aren't allowed inside, so it'll just be you and me."

My stomach lurched. Up until now Fauna's helped calmed me down. I felt like I was going to have a panic attack.

"Okay." I said, though my voice was quiet and hoarse as I said it.

"It's gonna be a bit overwhelming, but don't worry. About anything. Just follow me and sit, okay?" He said, looking at me.

I nodded once before I felt Fauna squeeze my hand. I turned to her as she shot me a quick smile before pulling me in for a quick hug. "You'll be fine." She whispered, before pulling away.

I nodded as I turned to watch her go, along with Zephyr.

Lo turned to face the two doors again as I stood behind him. I took a deep breathe as I heard the click of the lock opening, before he pushed the two doors open.

I had to fight to keep my facial expression steady as the atmosphere unfolded in front of me.

The room was huge, almost resembling a stadium. Unlike the courtrooms I was used to, there were rows, the next one higher up than the last. The only seats at the bottom where 3 large chairs, where I assumed my friends would be seated.
(if you guys know harry potter when he's on trial just picture the "courtroom" like that im sorry i suck at descriptive writing haha thanks so much x)
