I showered. Leaving the bathroom, I was greeted by a pile of clothing on the bed I had slept on. The steaming hot shower helped me to collect my thoughts, and feel more at ease, or present, at least.I walked over to the clothes, unraveling the thick robe I had put on. I lifted up the skirt, which was a long, silky floral skirt, with light pink and blue flowers filling every inch. I lifted the top it was paired with, a long sleeve button-down shirt. I rolled my eyes, not wanting to be dressed so fancy, but it was all whoever gave me.
I put the clothes on, walking back to the mirror in the bathroom. It didn't look awful on me, I actually felt rather pretty in it. I left the top 2 and bottom 2 buttons undone on the shirt, exposing some skin. I didn't need to look like a girl going to church on sunday.
I put on the plain white sneakers that were also left with clothing, quickly running my fingers through my wet hair as I made my way to the door, where I assumed Lo and Zephyr were waiting for me.
But as I opened the door, it was just Lo, leaning against the wall across from my bedroom. He appeared to have also showered by his change of clothes and slightly damp hair. I stepped out of the bedroom, shutting the door behind me.
Lo looked up at me, "You look nice." He said, before cocking his head in the direction we were going. "Let's go."
I walked with him down many hallways, all of which tended to look the same. I lost track after a while, hoping to learn how to make my way around this place, though it was no use. There were too many turns and hallways to go down to even begin to keep track.
Eventually, he brought me to a huge room with 1 long table. There were many people in the room, a buzz among their conversations as they talked amongst one another. Though once Lo and I walked in, the conversations ended, and nothing was left but silence and some stares in our direction.
"Wow guys, don't be too excited." Lo said sarcastically, making his way to the table. I hesitated, not knowing whether to follow behind him or not, so I stayed at the doorway.
"So, are you going to introduce yourself?" One girl asked me, her eyebrow raised. She was absolutely stunning, they all were. She had freckles all over her face, and her lips were dark and plump, as long straight black hair fell down her back.
"Oh- yeah, I'm Leila." I replied, trying to mask the shakiness in my voice. She nodded once, before turning to the guy next to her, continuing the conversation.
After a few moments, they all did the same. I wanted to run back into my room and crawl into a ball.
But before I could, another girl waved to me, motioning me to sit next to her. I made my way over to her as quickly as I could, trying to avoid being seen by the rest. I sat down quickly next to her, placing my hands in my lap.
Her hair was bright red and wild, and her skin was tan and smooth. Her eyes were dark, but her expression was soft and friendly. I felt a little more comfortable with her than the girl I had just spoken to.
"I'm Fauna," She smiled, "And this is Elysia." She motioned to the girl sitting on the other side of me, who looked equally as soft and friendly. She had brown skin and long curly black hair, the curls falling perfectly to shape her face.
"Hi." I said, looking between both of them.
"Don't mind Marleena," Elysia said, waving her hand away, "She's tough on everyone she meets for the first time."
I nodded, looking around at the rest of the people sitting at the table.
"Oh-" Fauna started, "Those two are twins, Osiris and Ophelia. They are super nice, but Osiris doesn't talk much." She said, pointing to two who sat diagonal from us, closer to the top of the table. "Then, that's Cael next to them. He and Marleena are best friends, like, tied at the hip. He's cool sometimes." She shrugged, before turning to another person. "And that's Freya, she's absolutely in love with Cael but doesn't want to admit it." She whispered, while Elysia chuckled quietly next to me.
"And this is Lo, who you met already, sadly." She finished, motioning her hand to Lo who sat across from us, next to the twins. "Ouch?" Lo replied, bringing his hand to his heart. "That hurts you know."
Fauna shrugged before turning back to me. "So are you all Incubi?" I asked them, keeping my voice low. Both of them began to laugh, shaking their heads. "No! We're all different, training to be different things." Elysia answered, "But Marleena, Freya and Cael are." She said, "Osiris, Ophelia and I are training to be guardians. Fauna is a witch, and Lo is just...Lo." She finished, turning to him with a smirk on her face.
I watched as Lo raised eyebrows, a shocked looked appearing on his face. "I'm literally sitting right here?" He exclaimed, while we chuckled in response.
"No but actually, Lo was brought here and no one knew how, or why. So his mom took him in. He's...something." Fauna said, once Lo's attention was no longer on us. I nodded, taking in the information.
We ate for a while, talking and laughing. It was nice to take a break from the craziness that had been happening. Though I still didn't have all the answers I needed, I was just happy to know my friends were okay. Now that I thought about it, I should've asked about Mitra and Makari, wherever they were, but I could felt it like a tug at my chest that I needed to see them soon. I felt incomplete without them.
My thoughts were interrupted as everyone's attention turned to the door as a tall, dark looking figure walked into the dining room. His skin was pale, a huge contrast to the tattoos that filled almost every inch of his arms and his neck. His aura was completely different from the other's in the room. He didn't seem to care about everyone looking at him, and didn't even look up to meet everyone's eyes.
Slowly, conversation started again as the others no longer paid attention him. For some reason, I couldn't take my eyes off of him. I tried to ignore him as Fauna and Elysia started talking again, focusing on what they were saying. But I watched him as he filled his plate with food, before turning to leave the room.
He walked to the doorway of the room, turning his head slightly to look at the table we sat at. Before I could look away, his eyes met mine, though his face stayed emotionless, looking away from me as he walked out the door.
