Mitra and I got out of my car, making our way to the front door of Jaxon and Ariel's house. Standing in front of it, I knocked a few times. Mitra stood next to me, letting out a sigh. She leaned her head against my arm. "I'm tired," she said. "Yeah, it's late." I nodded, watching as Jaxon opened the front door. "Look who decided to show up," he said, stepping to the side to let us in.
"Sorry, Jax. Gabriel just couldn't keep himself off me," she joked, stepping inside the house. Jaxon shot a look at me, "What?" he said, a glare growing on his face.
"I'm kidding," Mitra said, taking her shoes off, "We just talked." I winked at Jaxon, stepping into the house. He rolled his eyes as he shut the door behind me.
"Do you have a plan?" I asked him, taking my jacket off. "Not necessarily," Jaxon said, making his way to the living room. "I think that if you can't see him, he's probably got some type of protection over wherever they are, like the spell you put over our house." he said, sitting on the couch.
I cringed looking around the living room, the last time I was here was not something I was too eager to think about.
"I'm gonna go change real quick!" Mitra called to us as she ran up the stairs. I sat down across from Jaxon. He was still wearing what he wore to the club, but Ariel had already changed, with a mug of tea in her hand.
I shook my head, letting out a small laugh. "You and your damn tea," I said, looking at Ariel. "What! It calms me down," she said, placing it on the coffee table in front of her.
I heard Mitra running down the steps, and into the living room, plopping down next to me. I caught of whiff of her, like she had just showered. "Did you just shower?" I asked her, realizing her hair was wet. I don't know how she did it, but she always seemed to be able to take showers in less than 2 minutes.
"Yeah, I feel gross if I get back from the club dirty, you know that." she said, rolling her eyes. "Yeah yeah," I said, turning my attention back to Jaxon.
"So, what are we gonna do?" I asked him, realizing that he was staring somewhere else, deep in thought. "I think we should just start with you trying to see her," he said, "Trying to focus while driving or trying to get a hold on situation isn't ideal. I think if we just sit and let you focus, maybe something could come out of it." he said, now looking at me.
I nodded, "Okay, I'll try."
I sat up straight on the couch, and took a deep breath. I closed my eyes, focusing on when I saw Leila with Makari earlier. I let my mind wander, following her up until they left the club. I followed, but piece by piece, things started to disappear. Their surroundings became black, and I lost sight of Makari. I frowned, trying to zone in on just Leila. Eventually I only saw her face, and I felt my hands ball into fists as I tried not to lose it.
Soon enough, it went black.
I opened my eyes, looking up at Jaxon and Ariel, who's eyes were on my hands before looking back up at me. I released my fists, rubbing them on my jeans.
"I lost it.." I said, looking at them, "I'm sorry." Jaxon shook his head, "No need to apologize," he said. I felt Mitra rub my shoulder, "It's okay," she said. Jaxon then looked over at Mitra, "Did you know he was at the club?" he asked her. I almost felt my body freeze.
Was he seriously accusing Mitra?
"No," she said sternly, "Had I known I wouldn't have brought her there, knowing you all probably would've attacked my brother." she said, glaring back at Jaxon. "I would never do something like that to Leila or to him."
