Chapter 25:
Locker 284
Sophie hands me a chocolate scented, peel off, face mask before handing Zara a lavender scented one. Zara's is supposed to be useful for helping people get to sleep more easily, something she's been struggling with lately. She's had a bad feeling ever since the party and even now, two weeks later, it is keeping her up at night. She keeps telling us that she feels like something bad is coming.
Then again, she also tells us that her family believe her mother and grandmother are psychic, which I think is ridiculous but everyone believes in something. So I take what she says with a pinch of salt.
"Hopefully this will help." Sophie says, grabbing another face mask.
"Thank you, my sleep's got even worse lately." She sighs.
The three of us are sitting on Zara's bedroom floor, having a pamper night together.
"I'm sure there's nothing to worry about." Sophie reassures, applying her own aloe vera face mask.
Zara smiles back, opening her packet. I can tell she's just smiling to avoid hearing the same thing that she always hears; that she is crazy and to just forget about it. She's certain in her beliefs and there is no changing her mind.
"Can you guys believe it's already October?" I say, spreading the sweet scented mask around my face.
"I know, this year has flown by!" Zara replies.
"I can't believe that it's Zac's 18th birthday next month, I need to sort out his presents. It feels like my birthday was only yesterday. I miss our outdoor cinema." I say as I reminisce.
"Do you know what you're going to get him?" Zara asks.
"I'll get him a few little things but I think I might surprise him by taking him to Bella Amato to recreate our first date."
"That's so sweet!" Zara gushes.
"It's also almost time for Halloween!" Sophie exclaimes.
Halloween is one of Sophie's favourite holidays. The dressing up, the decorations, trick or treating- she loves it all. Usually she hosts a halloween party and the only condition is that everyone has to dress up, or they aren't allowed in. In typical Sophie style, her and Blake wear matching couple outfits, something that she plans weeks in advance.
After Amelia was kicked out, Sophie became the main party thrower at Oakmore and from what I've heard, Sophie's parties are way better. They don't get badly out of hand like Amelia's did; and that's a good thing.
From what Sophie tells me, last year's party was Sophie's best party that she's ever hosted. Everybody came dressed up and they played Halloween themed games, they had different awards and they all partied until 3am. Sophie told me that her dad even hired live actors to scare people, which reminded me of other extravagant things Sophie does at her parties, like when she put on a firework display for my welcome party.
