Chapter 16/2: Your Name

Mikasa:

"Jean I think tonight is your shift for night guard..." Mikasa asked Jean before he exits the mansion. Jean, that didn't expect Mikasa to ask anything, turned and answered with a big, surprised smile on his face "Yeah, what about it?"

Mikasa walked to him and grabbed the shotgun "I'll take yours, you take mine on the morning." Then she left Jean hanging there.

"Eh? Wait...why?!" asked Jean, rushing to get her before she leaves.

Mikasa paused and without turning her head she answered "I'm more comfortable this way."

"Did you inform Captain?" Mikasa pressed the gun in her hand "No need for that..." Mikasa didn't wait for Jean to respond.

*Few minutes Later*

Mikasa hit the ground so hard again "Ughhh...why!! Why can't I do this? I'm trying everything...I must get this done..." She was furious for not being able to copy Levi's spinning technique!

"I did it last time...what's wrong with me?" She shouted silently and throw away her blades; she unfolded her scarf frustrated and threw it somewhere on the ground then fell on her knees. She was disappointed with herself and felt weak.
She did Levi's spin once she faced Annie at the city but that was an impulse. No matter how much she tried now, she couldn't figure it out and practice it. She stayed like that for couple minutes but then stood back on her feet and tried the whole thing again, this time more determined. She kept on doing it until the sun came and she saw a carriage approaching.

She ran to the mansion to inform Levi and everyone. That was when she bumped into Levi at the door.

Levi:

*same time as Mikasa on watch*

"I've slept enough for a week last night!" Levi laid on his bed but not long after he decided to get out quietly and walk. He came out of his room and walked downstairs to have some tea before that. When he stepped on the last stair he saw Jean talking to someone "Did you inform Captain?" and the shadowed figure answered "No need for that..." Jean walked out of the kitchen scratching his head and when he looked away of her way he saw Levi "Oh good night sir!" Jean stood straight then.

Levi only nodded "What was that about?" asked Levi.

"Oh that...well Mikasa switched her shift with me." answered Jean unsure "Well she said it's more comfortable for her and it's really not a big deal..." Jean tried to explain her action so Levi won't scold her. Levi shook his head and interrupted him "Fine, keep walking brat." Levi pulled back for Jean to go upstairs.

Levi entered the kitchen but he didn't light any candle. He looked out of the half open door to the outside while he was waiting for water to boil. Mikasa was putting on her gears "What the hell is she up to?"

In few minutes, Mikasa was flying and falling down again and again and wouldn't stop at all. Levi silently walked out of the half open door and leaned on the wooden beam outside the kitchen. He took a sip on his tea and suddenly he realized what she is trying to do that makes her fail every time.

"Why would she want to copy my move?! Has she gone out of her mind?!" thought Levi.

He sighed and then remembered her full name again "How come that you are an Ackerman? No one knows my name so it must be true with no specific intention..." Levi pressed between his eyes with his fingers "Could it be that we're related?" He then frowned while his fingers were still on his eyes "If that bastard, Kenny would've talked...who was he to my mother...he can't be..." Suddenly he heard Mikasa shout and fall hard on the ground. He was about to go and grab her from her scarf to drag her inside but then she pulled herself together and did it all over again. Levi remained there and silently watched her

"She's took a grasp of the main idea; she has the strength too of course! But, her posture and her balance is shitty...she still needs some time to recover!" Levi observed all her movements and recorded all her little flaws. It was interesting to watch her for whole night. He remembered every comments and compliments he received in his trainee days and comparing them with her, they were almost the same!

Just when he decided to go and get her back inside, he noticed the sunrise "Tch...never mind..." he returned and again was surprised of how he stood there whole night, watching her. Not long after, the door burst open and they faced each other. Mikasa was panting, drenched in sweat and dirt but to Levi's surprise, he didn't get disguised by her appearance at all, on the contrary, her pumped muscles and her bangs, sticking to her forehead made quite a nice combination.

"Oh...Goo...Good morning sir!" It seemed she forgot what she was about to say and only remained there, staring at him and Levi staring back at her!

"Well...what is it brat?" Levi asked as he looked the other way but stayed where he was "Oh...uh yes, a carriage is coming this way...it's survey corps.'" Mikasa finally spoke what she came for.

"It's Hange then...go and wake the others, it's gonna be a long day..." Levi mumbled his last words.

Mikasa nodded and passed by him. Levi turned and looked her way; as Mikasa did the same at the same time their eyes met. Both of them looked away immediately and Mikasa ran up the stairs.

"Tch...this peculiar brat will drive me crazy for sure!"
