The Truth

Seven

Brooke woke up the next morning, and went to Nicholas room she saw him playing with his cars and smiled at him. She went back to her room and called Lucas asking him if he would pick him up later today. Of course he had said yes. Brooke went back to his room and sat on his bed.

"Hey buddy what are you up to?"

"Just playing, is Lucas coming today?"

"Maybe. Um, sweetie can you come here for a sec."

Nicholas sat on the bed next to Brooke  and she took a deep breath and started to tell him. "Honey, I have to tell you something. You know how you are always asking about you dad?" She asked, he nodded "Well I have to say something, Lucas is actually your dad."

Nicholas' eyes got big "What's todays date, I have to make sure it's not April." Nicholas ran off the bed.

"Baby, it's not, I'm not lying to you, I promise. He really is your dad, so how do you feel about that?"

"Well he is pretty fun, but I haven't ever met him before as my dad. Its just it's always been me and you, momma, I don't want things to change."

Brooke smiled and put Nicholas in her lap "It's not honey! It's not I promise you will always be my little boy!" Nicholas looked down and Brooke kissed his cheek.

Later that day, Lucas had picked Nicholas up and they were going back to the rivercourt, he seemed to like it there. Lucas had noticed that he was being very quiet which wasn't normal. Finally he spoke up, "So I guess you're my dad huh?" He said.

"Your mom told you?"

"Yeah, but I wish both of you told me, I don't like when people lie to me."

"I'm sorry buddy."

"Your pretty awesome Lucas, I'm glad your my dad!" He said, Lucas was hurt my the thought of him saying 'Lucas' instead of dad. But he knew it would take time getting used to it.

They arrived at the rivercourt and played basketball for a little bit. He took him back home and he went to sleep.

"Did he talk to you about it?"

"He said, he was glad I was his dad."

"Awww." Lucas smiled at Brooke's reply.

"I missed your laugh, and your smile." She said.

He stared at her, saying no words "I misses everything about you, I missed all of you." Brooke moved closer to him and set her hand on his chest, they moved closer to each other, "Momma, I can't sleep." Nicholas said at the bottom of the stairs.

"Okay baby I'm coming." Brooke said walking away from Lucas, she looked back and he looked to her "I'll see you later." She nodded and he left, so many old memories rushed back.
"Momma?" He said getting her attention.

Brooke went up the stairs and told Nicholas to lay in her bed. They went to sleep but Brooke was only thinking about Lucas and then when she would look at Nicholas she would remember everything about their relationship. She would see Lucas in Nicholas.
