Seventeen

Haley pulled over and immediately ran into the hospital. Brooke grabbed Nick's hand and quickly followed. "Hi, we're here for Lucas Scott." Haley said calmly, mascara running down her face.

"Are you relatives of Mr Scott?" The doctor asked her.

"He is my best friend, this is his--."
"I am sorry, i am afraid blood relatives are the only ones who can see him during this time, he is in critical condition. We need to prep him for surgery. So i am afraid you have to-"

"He's my daddy!" Nick said below the counter. Brooke looked at him and the doctor bent down, looked at Nick.

"All right little man, i will allow you to go in for a few minutes before his surgery. Are you his mother?" She asked looking at Brooke. She nodded.

"You can look in, make sure they are both safe." Brooke nodded and took Nick's hand. She hugged Haley tight and they walked off to his room. Once they got there Nick saw Lucas, blood everywhere, he got a little scared. He turned to Brooke and she bent down, rubbing his arms "Mommy."

"What baby?" Brooke said tearing up again.

"Daddy is gonna be okay right?" Brooke nodded and told him to go in.

He sat down at the chair and pulled it next to Lucas, he looked closely and saw his chest moving up and down. The blood was distracting him. Lucas breathed heavy, trying to move around. Nick looked at his mom but Brooke wasn't paying attention.

"Daddy?" Nick said nervously.

Lucas opened his eyes, he was confused, he didn't know where he was. "Where am i? Nick what are you doing here, where is mom at?"

"Daddy you were in a wreck." Lucas tryed to move but it hurt him even more, he screamed out in pain. Nick quickly stood up looking at his mom. She rushed in. "Hey!" She said rushing to his side.

"Brooke?"

"Luke, you were in a wreck, they said it messed you up pretty bad. If you don't go to surgery you might die." They continued to talk and sit there as a family, the three of them. Then the doctors took Lucas into surgery.

"I love you daddy!" Nick said.

"Love you buddy, and Brooke, i love you." Brooke gave him a quick kiss on his cheek and walked to the waiting room with her son.

hours later in the operating room••••

"give me the needle." The surgeon said to the nurse.

"Doc, somethin isn't right." The next up said. The doctor looked closely, he noticed something strange abt his heart. There was a cut, Lucas's heart stopped beating. "No no no!" The doctor screamed.
"CLEAR!"

"CLEAR!"

one more!!

"CLEAR!"

"1, 2, 3, 4, 1 2 3 4" the doctor screamed doing cpr.

"Doc!" But he continued "Doc!!" "Rob!!" the next up said grabbing his hand. "He is gone Robert, there's nothing else." They calmed down, and looked at the machine.

"Sarah punch it in, time of death 8:39 pm." The doctor said throwing his tools on the floor.

Meanwhile in the waiting room, Nick was reading a book. Haley was on the phone with Nate and Brooke sat there thinking about Lucas.

The doctor walked in the waiting room, Brooke saw him and turned around. "Lucas's surgery was one of the hardest we have ever had to perform. We found a cut in his heart. He stopped breathing and his heart stopped beating, we tried everything we could, i am very sorry." The doctor said walking away.

"No no no no no!!!" Brooke screamed and cried out in pain Nick and haley grabbed her, and held her close. Nick cried more and more as that day went on. Haley had gone to tell her husband that his brother had died.

Brooke didn't know how she would make it through this. For hours she sat in that room remembering every moment she spent with Lucas.

"The difference is I love you Brooke!"

"Hey pretty girl!"

"You are the one for me Brooke Davis!"

"You are the perfect mom to our little boy."

"I love you."

So many memories and all she wanted to do was to kiss lucas and hold him one last time.
