Thirteen

Brooke had told everyone that she was pregnant, Haley was more excited than everyone else, Lucas was trying to be there for her and Nicholas, but Brooke just seemed so upset about everything, she knew it was the pregnancy and the mood swings. Nicholas didn't know that Brooke was pregnant, she thought it was best to wait and tell him. Lucas took Nicholas to the rivercourt and sometimes Nicholas knew that he was only taking him for Brooke. "Why is momma so sad?" He asked.

"She's just... going through some adult stuff."

"Is Julian hurting her?"

"No, buddy nothin like that." Lucas ended the conversation and they went on the court to play.

Meanwhile, Brooke was at home, while Julian worked during the day Haley would call to check in every once in a while. Brooke was doing the dishes and started to cry she was confused as to why she would randomly start crying. She slammed the plate against the cabinets and then another, and another piece after piece broke on the floor. She cut her finger, crying out in pain just then Julian and Nicholas walked in and Brooke was laying on the floor in tears.

"Mommy!" Nicholas screamed, Julian ran into the kitchen after him.

"Brooke. Hey hey hey. Nicholas go upstairs for a minute okay?"

Nicholas ran up the stairs in shock almost scared. "What happened?" Julian asked helping her up.

"I don't know if I can do this Julian!"
"Slow down."
"Every since I found out about the pregnancy, I feel sick and tired and I'm always in pain."

"Well that's normal."
"But it's not like normal pregancy pain, it's something worse than that, I feel sick and I'm so angry and upset. Somethings wrong with me Julian, I can feel it." Brooke said starting to cry again.

Julian pulled her into a hug and she continued to cry in his arms, Nicholas watched them from above the stairs. Julian had told her they would go to the doctor's in the morning. "Is mom sick?" Nicholas asked Julian.

"Why would you ask that?"

"I heard you guys talking Julian, something is wrong with mom?"

"We don't know buddy. Go to asleep." Julian said tucking him in and shutting his door.

Julian went into their room and saw Brooke sleeping on the bed, clutching her stomach. Julian fell asleep next to her.
4 hours later

Julian woke up at 1 am, looked over and saw Brooke wasn't there and then he heard her in the bathroom it sounded like she was puking. Julian rushed to the bathroom and saw Brooke puking in the sink, it was blood. "Oh no Brooke we gotta get you to a hospital." Julian said.
Julian picked her up and they drove to the hospital, he had called Haley to get Nicholas. He carried her in the emergency room "Help! Help! My girlfriend needs help!" A nurse came and carried Brooke to a room.

"What's her name?"
"Uh, Brooke."

"Did you know she was pregnant?"
"Yeah,yeah we did."

"I'll get the doctor when he is done running the tests." The nurse said walking out.

"Hey." Brooke said out of energy, Julian rushed to her side.
"Hi babe."

"Brooke, I came as soon as I heard what happened?"

"I haven't seen you since high school, don't act like we are just best friends Peyton."

"I was worried, are you okay?"

"I don't really know, considering I'm in the hospital, and my ex best friend came unannounced."

"Brooke I--"

"Momma!" Nicholas said rushing to the hospital bed.
"Hey honey."
"Are you okay mom?" He asked her.
"I'm fine baby." Brooke said looking at Haley.

"Hey Peyton." Haley said. Peyton nodded and Haley rushed to Brooke's side.

"Mr. Baker?" The doctor said as everyone looked at him. Julian stood up.
"May I speak with you outside?"
"Is everything okay?" He asked him

"Let's talk outside Julian." The doctor said leading the way.

Haley grabbed Brooke's hand and Brooke looked outside the window trying to hear what they were saying.

"Mr Baker, I ran 5 tests, they all came back positive. Brooke has stage 3 ovarian cancer."

"But she's--"

"Since she is pregnant it will be very hard for her, I am not sure if the baby will live. We can put Brooke through chemo, if we don't it could result in breast cancer."

Julian rubbed his eyes and buried his hands into his face, Brooke started to get worried. "It's gonna be fine Brooke." Haley said to her.

"We will need to schedule an appointment next week sometime, talk things over." Julian nodded his head the doctor told him that she could go home tomorrow afternoon. But he didn't know how she would take this. He walked back in the room and looked at Brooke. "Hey guys can you give us a minute?" Haley, Peyton, and Nicholas left the room.

"What's going on Julian?" Brooke asked.
Julian grabbed her hand, "Brooke the doctor said that you have something called, stage 3 ovarian cancer and since you are pregnant it could kill the baby, if you don't do chemo it could spread and become breast cancer. Brooke stared at him and started to cry. "I'm so sorry baby." Julian hugged her.

She told Haley about it, they cried together she wasn't sure as to why Peyton was even there. Brooke wasn't gonna tell Nicholas yet he wasn't ready.
