5. Mia

Mia's POV

I woke up the next day and continued on with the normal routine. My dad was excited after his first day with the students. It helped that he was their Alpha, so they still respected him. Most of our kids, though, are good kids, sometimes they just toe the line. I hugged my dad before leaving for the office. I loved seeing him so happy and full of life.

I beat Beta Ben but not my other best friend in the world. I squealed as I saw Isabella, and she did too. She finally just got back from her vacation, which she rightfully deserved. "I have literally so much gossip for you, but I need to work."

"Of course, darling, I understand. I just wanted to say hi, I already told Ben all three of us have lunch plans." I smiled and gave her a big hug. On cue, Ben walks in and smiles at her. They hug before she goes to spend time with her family.

"Oh, I missed her, she is going to be a major godsend," I told Ben, and he glared at me. "Umm, I am a godsend too." He said, and I laughed.  We went back to work. Today we were looking over finances; Ben was an accounting major.

I did want to talk to my best friend Isabella but couldn't let go of my control. I needed to be working. I know I may have become like a robot while gunning for this position. However, I need to stay that robot around the pack and others. I can loosen my reins over the pack once I get settled in. But this was a man's world, and I needed to be tough to survive. Once he breaks down his walls, though, I want to make sure he's not mated to a robot.

We finish up most of the accounting stuff before lunch as Isabella comes back barging in. "Okay, tell me about your vacation," I told her as we walked back to her place. She decided to make Ben and I lunch.

"Okay, so I meet this amazing human named Berlos; he was so kind and sweet. We had an amazing nice in Paris. It was so romantic; I hated leaving him. But oh my moon goddess, the beaches were amazing, and I have such a great tan. It's just what I needed." Isabella filled us in with her vacation details until turning to Ben.

"What's new with you besides the whole beta thing?"
"Oh, you shouldn't ask me, you need to ask Alpha." I blushed as she looked at me with her detective's eyes. "So Mia, what's new with you?" She got super close to my face until I gulped.

"I meet my mate the day of my coronation."
"What?!! Details now, Ben took over the food before I burn myself." Isabella stole his seat and stared at me for the details.

"You remember going over to Eclipse Pack? The one with the pool that I begged my parents for?"
"Yeah, so what?"
"The Alpha's son now Alpha James is my mate." She gasped and rushed forward to grab me in her arms. "But." She pulled back as she said this and studied my face.

"He tried to have me leave this pack to join his as LUNA," I told her, and she gasped.
"Was he really that stupid?"
"Well, it was mainly his wolf talking, but to be a leader, you need to half control over both your human and wolf side."
"Dang right, girl, so what happened after you obviously told him off?"
"I told him to hit me up when he grows out of his outdated perspective."
"That is definitely my Mia."

We all started eating lunch as I gave her the rest of the story, including everyone at the coronation, and she filled me on the rest of her vacation. I didn't even notice when Ben left, and then I did see the clock. "Oh shoot, I have to get back to work, Isabella, sleepover tomorrow night?"

"Of course. I'm so proud of you for being an awesome Alpha." I wanted to add not being an awesome one when I'm late but refrained. Ben didn't say anything about being late, and I sighed in relief. "Don't forget tonight we have an informal pack meeting." He reminded me, and I thanked him. We got done with the accounting stuff, and I decided I wanted to walk around the land. I needed to check to all the buildings and such. You would think the alpha job would be more high risk and important stuff, but it was just like being mayor. It was fun for people like Leslie Knope from Parks and Rec.
