Mia's POV
I rolled over in the bed, trying to find James. I woke up from a nightmare where I lost him. Try as I might, I couldn't feel him. I opened my eyes and realized he left me. I called out for him, knowing I wouldn't get a response.
I moved and heard the crinkle of paper. I picked it up and read James's note he left me. He explained that his father was back and needed to talk to him immediately. James told me he loved me and hated to leave.
I sighed as I realized he did the right thing. I wanted to be there for him when he confronted his father though. There was no way I was getting any more sleep so I got up.
I took a shower and got dressed. I went to the kitchen just as my dad arrived home. I squealed and hugged him. We both laughed and embraced. "I missed you!" I told him. We talked on the phone as much as we could but it wasn't the same.
"Where's James?" He asked as he let go.
"He had to go talk to his father. It's a big mess right now."
"I know. Are you hungry?" My stomach growled and we both laughed."I'll put some pancakes and eggs on." He said and I nodded. Right then, I smelled James and knew he made it safely back here. Hopefully, that meant his father was calmed down and we weren't in danger anymore.
He came in and I attacked him with a hug. James's smell hit my nose and I calmed down.
"I missed you. How did it go?" I asked needing all the details.
"It went good, he's finally let it go."
"Good." James shook my dad's hand and sat down next to me.As he was making breakfast, my dad started to fill us in on his trip. "Alpha Crystal is a very quick learner and it helped that we basically told her to do everything the opposite way her father did it. We also helped Isabella with her new role."
We started to eat and my dad got done quickly probably to give us some alone time. "I'm glad you're back Dad." I told him and he went to his room to unpack.
I turned to James to hear about his morning. I was glad that his father and him could finally bond. It also sounds like James's mother finally put her foot down.
"I was worried about you." I told him. I knew he needed to make these scarifies for the pack but it still hurt.
"I know but we finally calmed down that situation."
"Good. I'm glad your father and you made up."I gave him a kiss and went down to my office. Some of our pack members came down to visit me over usual pack stuff. The pack has a couple teenagers getting ready for their first shift so we needed to prepare them for that. Ben was helping with the training program that was going really good.
I mainly did paperwork for the rest of the day. The majority of Ben's and my time is done on paperwork. I seriously could drown in it. I was surprised that James did not join us for lunch. I wanted to see him, I missed him even though I saw him this morning.
I finished up and left the office. I was happy to finally be home with both my dad and James. Even before I opened the door, I could smell my dad's cooking and it made my mouth water. I pushed back the scent of tacos to try to find James. I could tell he wasn't in the house, he was helping with the training program.
I opened the door and my dad gave me a big hug. "Hi Dad." I said and sat down to spend time with him while he finished dinner. "James wanted to start on some training so that's why he isn't here. I have him practicing emphasizing with people. That isn't a strong suit of his." I laughed but still felt immense pride in my mate. He was really trying and I would have to show my appreciation.
