25. Mia and James

Mia's POV

"Mia, are you awake," James whispered, and I groaned. "Now I am," I mumbled and rolled over, hoping to get some more sleep. "I hate to do this cupcake, but we have some bad news about the Broken Light pack."

I shot up quickly, wide awake now. "Is Isabella okay," I asked right away, needing answers. Please, I can't lose my best friend too.

"She is fine. However, there is an uprising taking place right now. They have a couple of families held hostage until Alpha Crystal stands down. Some kid claims he's Paul's estranged son, so he deserves the alpha position. Your dad wants to go back."

"Absolutely not, I will go with our best warriors." I couldn't lose my dad, either.
"Mia no, you need to stay here and be our Alpha. I will go, this pack can survive without a luna."

"You aren't going, and I forbid it."
"Mia, we both know this is the best answer. The council has already made the decision, and I've agreed to it."
"I'm the Alpha, and I forbid it," I growled. I couldn't lose James either. I selfishly wanted all of us to stay back, but people needed us.

"I know you want to keep all of your loved ones safe, but I'm a good warrior. I'm not a good alpha, and this pack needs you. The council will override, or we can save time."

"I don't care; you are mine."
"Mia, I had to do this, but you leave me no choice." I was confused until he held me down. I struggled and tried to bite him. James was smart and leaned down to kiss my mark. My wolf was struggling to come out, and I was tempted to shift for her. However, James kept distracting me with kisses so I couldn't concentrate.

My dad came in and handcuffed me to the bed. I started crying, and James grabbed my face. His thumbs wiped my tears as I looked into his green eyes.

"Cupcake, I know you're scared and angry. I love you, and I will come back to you. Let me save Isabella and her love too."
"If you leave me, I will never forgive you," I told him, and he sighed.

"You don't mean that," he said and gave me a sad smile as he walked out the door. I struggled to run after him until I shouted out in pain. I had to stop struggling; it was no use. As I heard his truck pulling away, I screamed after him.

My dad unlocked the handcuffs, and I slumped over on the bed. I was a sobbing mess as I went over the possibilities. After this, I could lose both my best friend and mate. I couldn't survive either of those. My dad held me as I broke down. After that, I fell asleep, totally exhausted.

James's POV

After the dinner with my parents, I hoped our lives would try to get back to normal. However, Mia's dad woke me up with bad news. There was an uprising at the Broken Light pack, and we needed to send people up there for help.

I knew Mia would volunteer, but she couldn't go. Going downstairs, the council had a meeting with Mia's dad and me. They decided I would be the best choice to go and I agreed. This pack could survive without a luna. I couldn't take over alpha for Mia if she dies.

So the warriors prepared our vehicles for the trip as I broke the news to Mia. The hardest thing I've ever done in my life is leaving her as she freaks out. I couldn't blame her if I lost my mom; I would be afraid of everyone dying.

"If you leave me, I will never forgive you." Echoed through my head as we drove to Broken Light Pack. I hoped she was wrong and would forgive me when I get back. I would try my hardest to come back.
