24. Mia

Mia's POV

I was nervous about today, and we were going to have both our families together for dinner. I knew his father was not going to be too happy. I will just try to show that James and I are a great couple.

James rolled over, and his green eyes met mine. "You're awake," he simply said, and I smiled.
"Are you nervous about today?"
"Yes, but I feel better knowing you will be there."
"Good."

I got up out of bed and started getting dressed. James groaned and got up as well. "Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?" I asked him, and he smiled.

"A couple of times," he came over as I put my shirt on. James grabbed me into his arms and held me in a hug. I relaxed and leaned my head onto his chest. Hearing his heartbeat, I felt content.

"I do love that Zoey and my mom has accepted you. They love you." James told me, and I looked up to meet his eyes. "I love them too, Zoey is like a sister I didn't have."

James gulped. "She's been trying to talk me into letting her live with us. I hoped that you would be okay with it."

"Of course, our pack is always open to anyone. Our family is always open for those we care about." Some tears collected in his eyes, and I gave him a sad smile.

"This was really weighing on you, wasn't it?" I asked, feeling sorry he felt he couldn't tell me. After not being able to trust his own father for more than half his life, I didn't blame him for not being willing to share everything with me. It would take some time.

"Yeah, he isn't that way with her at all, but I still worry. While I'm not there, I don't know what's happening. My mom can't stand to leave her mate and doesn't talk about it at all. I was happy when he was with Alpha Crystal helping her, and he couldn't hurt us."

"I'm so sorry, Zoey can certainly come live with us whenever she feels comfortable." We stayed in that embrace until my dad told us that breakfast was made.

James let me go, and we walked to the table. "Good morning, you two," my dad cheerfully told us. I put on a smile and greeted him too. James was still in his state of mind, but my dad ignored it.

"Your family is going to be here around six. Your aunt, uncle, and Reba are coming too." My dad told us. I knew my dad wanted to invite them for my sake, but maybe Reba will help out James with his nervousness too.

"Thanks, Dad."

'Did you guys fight?' My dad asked through mind link. 'No, James is nervous since his dad got back really quickly from your trip and was upset. He's worried that tonight isn't going to go well.' That wasn't a lie technically, just not all the truth.

I put my hand on James's leg as we ate to show I cared. We finished up the food, and I got ready to leave for the office. I kissed James and mouthed, 'I love you.' He smiled, and I left. My dad planned for some more luna training for him.

When I got to the office, Ben was sitting at his desk. The training program was done, and everyone was leaving today. Ben told me all about, including how successful it was. This event also helped our allies staying close.

The council called me down to the office before I could get started on some paperwork. "We have exciting news for you." They told me.

"We did some additional research about Luna James and you marking. We have two other stories about second chance mates that happened to both be Alphas. They marked each other, and they were fine. We are also hoping since James is officially Luna that it will be fine. However, it is up to you and James on what you do."
