Chapter 22

Are you ready for this?

"Congratulations, you're having a girl." She gave a warm smile.

"I told you!" I yelled at Ashton with a smile.

"Wait hold on." The doctor said and i got kind of worried. She moved the device to the other side of my stomach. "I think there's another baby." She focused hard on the screen.

"Wait another baby as in we're having twins?" I asked. Ashtons eyes getting a little bigger. She continued to study the screen.

"Yes," she said "there is another baby, you're having twins." I looked at Ashton and his smile grew.

"Is this one a boy or a girl?" He asked excitedly. The doctor moved the device some more.

"This one is a boy." She said making him even more excited. I sat up in confusion.

"How did we not know there were two?" I asked.

"Well this baby isnt growing as fast as the other so i hadnt noticed him before." She said. This worried me.

"Will he be okay?" I asked nervous for the answer.

"After we put you on some medication he should start to grow at a normal rate and be a healthy baby, but if he doesnt he might be born with some defects."

"What kind of defects?" Ashton asked.

"Lung defects, possibly some brain defects, but i wouldnt worry about that, he's almost average size just a tad smaller. The medication should help him grow. Theres is only about a 25% chance of your baby being born with a defect." She tried to smile. Ashton and I nodded. "Would you like a copy of your ultra sound?" She asked trying to lighten the mood.

"Yes please." I smiled weakly. The doctor left the room and i smiled at Ashton. "We have both." I laughed. He smiled at me. "Dont be too worried Ash, she said its only a 25% chance and he's not that far behind." He sighed.

"I just dont want anything bad to happen, this is our future and i dont want it to fall apart." He said looking at the floor.

"We'll be okay Ash." I grabbed his hand intertwining our fingers "i promise." I smiled then leaned down and kissed his lips. I pulled away to see a bright smiling Ashton. The doctor came back about 5 minutes later.

"Here's the pictures of the boy." She pulled them out of her hand putting them into an envelope. "And here's the girl." She gave us a warm smile. "Have a nice day, call if there's any problems and ill see you next month." I smiled back and Ashton and I left.

"Want to go get some food?" He asked.

"Of course." I laughed

"Alright where do you want to go?" He asked. I pondered it for a second.

"Dairy queen sounds pretty good." I smiled. He rolled his eyes at my choice and began to pull out of the doctors office. I still cant believe it, we're having twins. One of each, this is fantastic. Nothing could ruin my mood.

Twins!!! I couldnt decide if i wanted them to have a boy or a girl so i chose both, bet you didnt see that coming. My book is full of suprises.
