the train ride was quiet, somewhat. the three pure-bloods and one half-blood were talking about all the stories their parents told.
"what about you zach? what stories did your parents tell you?" gabriela asked the silent boy next to her. "i- uh... i-i never heard any."
"what? you never asked your parents what hogwarts was like? they never told you anything?" jack was shocked. he and daniel used to beg for stories every day.
"i- m-my parents... they aren't... they're not, uh... wizards." zach spoke, looking down.
they probably don't want to be friends with him anymore. he was just waiting for it. just say it already.
"oh, well... that's okay. that doesn't matter." corbyn piped up, making zach feel a little better.
"yeah! i'm half-blood, mums a witch, dads a muggle." daniel nodded.
zach cracked a small smile, was this where he was meant to be? is this where he belonged? at this school, with people who were like him? maybe. maybe this is where he can actually feel happy.
"i suggest we change into our robes, i feel we might be arriving soon." corbyn said before grabbing his black robe.
the group all changed and were back to sitting down and talking. zach was feeling a bit more comfortable talking to these people.
especially gabriela. she seemed the easiest to talk to. he was most comfortable around her.
just as corbyn has suspected, the train arrived at the school. zach was amazed. it was beautiful. it was huge!
"woah..." zach was breathless looking at the castle. "it's amazing isn't it?" corbyn smiled as they walked toward the boats.
they rode boats over to the castle. it was four people per one boat so naturally jack and daniel went together, corbyn and zach taking the other two spots.
gabriela sat in a boat with two girls and one boy. zach recognized that boy from diagon alley, they bumped into each other when he was looking around.
zach sat in astonishment as they came closer to the school. "i can't believe this is happening." he whispered, "you can't believe it? i've been waiting for this day since i was born!" jack chuckled.
"well considering i only found out about this whole thing four months ago, i seriously can't believe this is happening." zach said back.
"okay yeah fair enough." jack smirked. as they arrived, walking inside the castle, zach was in awe.
jack and daniel wanted to scream, this was everything sydnie, christian, and tyler ever told them about. actually, it was more. it was impeccable.
the group of first years stood in front of the doors to the great hall. professor mcgonagall stood in front of them all, giving them an introduction to the school.
she explained the four houses and that they will be awarded points for their good actions, bad actions and points will be taken away.
zach thought all this to be amazing. for the first time since he left his family at king's cross, he felt good about this.
they walked inside the great hall and man was that room huge! there were four long tables, one for each house.
the first years stood at the front of the room, before a stool with a hat on top. the sorting hat.
when walking up to the sorting hat, jack looked around, spotting sydnie sitting with her friends at the hufflepuff table.
daniel doing the same, seeing his two brothers sitting at the gryffindor table with their redhaired friends.
