during dinner, zach seemed quiet. he sat with gabriela and christina per usual, but the two girls were talking a lot more than he was.

"zach, are you okay? you're barely talking to us?" christina spoke gently, "are you still upset with us? i really am sorry zach." gabriela wondered.

"no, don't worry i'm not upset, just tired i guess. definitely going to bed early tonight." he flashed a weak grin, turning back to his untouched plate of food. he wasn't hungry either.

"well i'd sure hope you'd be tired. you've been staying up late reading almost every night. that's got to have caught up to you."

christina smiled brightly, trying to bring the mood up. "yeah i think it definitely has." zach giggled in response.

dinner went along, not a lot of interest in that night, at least not until after dinner.

gabriela, christina, and zach were walking with their gryffindor friends toward their common room before going to hufflepuff's own.

there he was, harry potter, stood in the hallway, slytherin and gryffindor students surrounding him, shocked by the scene.

writing on the wall, done in blood, mrs. norris petrified. it was a strange scene, scary.

"enemies of the heir beware?" draco read the writing aloud before he and jack both looked to hermione granger. "you'll be next mudbloods." he spoke coldly, jack laughing quietly, smirking.

zach grew scared, as if he wasn't already. he was muggleborn, what's going to happen to him?

soon enough, professor dumbledore and a few other teachers approached the scene.

the headmaster told everyone to go straight to their dormitories immediately. well, except for harry, ron, and hermione.

gabriela made sure zach stayed close to her and christina as they said goodnight to their friends and walking quickly to the hufflepuff common room.

"gabbie? what is happening?" zach asked as they sat near the fireplace, his voice was small and quiet. he was scared. "i don't know zach, just stay close to us okay?"

the brunette boy nodded quickly. all day long he had this twisting feeling in his stomach that something would happen. something bad. this was it.

but how did he know? why did he get this feeling that something bad would happen?

zach had no idea what was going on. all he knew was that he was scared. very scared.
