Tension
POV Alex
I woke up the next morning in a daze. Memories of last night flooded into my mind like a broken beaver dam. I was sure the counsel, Dolly and Jason would both like to speak to me, and I knew I wanted to avoid Blaze. I sat up and realized I was alone in Jason’s room, he must have left already. As I got up I also relieved I would have to go through the throne room in my pajamas.
I walked out the door and to my great relief no one was in the hallway, or the throne room, or my hallway. It was odd no one was around and even a little nerve racking. I got dressed and pulled a comb through my hair quickly and made my way to the breakfast hall. It too was empty except for a note on the door. It read:
Alex, Your breakfast is in the kitchen –Dolly
I didn’t know where the kitchen, but I assumed it was the door beside the stage. I was right. I walked into a small kitchen; a few workers were doing dishes or cooking.
“You must be Alex” said a mousy looking worker “your breakfast is over there, you may eat it here or go some where more comfortable”
“Thank you” I said as I sat down at a breakfast bar where my plate was placed. I ate there and talked with the workers about nothing at all.

“Where can I find everyone?” I asked before leaving.
“Meeting upstairs, they are expecting you” said one worker.
“Go upstairs and it’s the first door on the right” said another. I said my thanks and goodbyes and headed on my. I found the door but hesitated to open it. When I finally opened it I saw a long table in the room. Chairs were filled with the people I lived with. Everyone stopped and stared at me when I entered; I just ducked my head and sat between Dolly and Jason.
“Hello Alex” said William “we were just discussing you”
“Ok” I said, not knowing what else to do.
“We have, for the most part, decided that you will become immortal a week before Halloween” said William.
“Why immortal?” asked Blaze. “Why not a vampire?”
“Blaze, the man she loves is immortal” said Fee.
“What if she loved a vampire?” before he could get the words out of his mouth Jason was on his feet.
“Over my dead body” said Jason through his teeth.
“I can arrange that” hissed Blaze. Blaze moved so fast no one saw, he was on top of Jason trying to bite at Jason’s neck. Edon pried Blaze off Jason and flung him across the room. Dolly and I were both on our feet and running to Jason. I knelt beside him, he had no wounds so there was no need in medical attention. He jumped up like nothing happened.
POV Jason
Luckily Blaze didn’t get a chance to hurt me, I would have to thank Edon later. I jumped up like nothing happened and kissed Alex right in front of Blaze. Alex pushed me off her when she realized what I was doing. It was to late though, Blaze had already turned red with anger. He stood up and stormed out of the room.
POV Alex
To Jason’s surprise I ran after Blaze. He was standing in the middle of the throne room.
“Blaze” I said softly.
“What?” he asked in a harsh voice that echoed through the room.
”I’m sorry” I said, my voice was still quiet.
“For what?” he asked “It’s not like you meant to fall for Jason”
“And you didn’t mean to fall for me” I said.
“Your right, I didn’t” he turned to face me. “I could have had any vampire girl in the world, but I fell for the human I couldn’t have”
“That’s why I am sorry” my voice was still soft.
“Why can’t you love me?” his face was twisted in pain and he looked as if he going to cry. You loved me once”
“I what?” I shrieked.
“It was in the early1800s, before I was on the counsel. You fell for me when you were fifteen, and I fell for you not long after. We were happy and I didn’t see Jason as any threat” his voice cracked for a minute and then he continued “I went to your funeral, no one knew what happened. I found out when I joined the counsel. Jason killed you”
I sat there for a minute in silence. Soon I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Blaze and I turned to see Dolly standing at the bottom of the stairs.
“Blaze” she said in a small voice “William would like to see you”
“Is Jason still there?” he asked.
“Yes” she said.
“Then there will be blood” he looked at me “You can’t love a dead man”
“If you lay a finger on him I will personally murder you” I said through clenched teeth. Blaze walked up the stairs without another word. Dolly walked off also, leaving me alone. I collapsed on the floor and cried. The tears spilled over my eyes and sobs escaped my lips. I never cried like that before, I don’t know how long I lay there crying. Eventually I got up and walked to my room and fell asleep.
