Chapter 16

Alei

"Ugh! I hate being late."

Taking a deep breath, I tried to move around as quickly as I could. Everything was going wrong this morning and now I was running late to go collect Aug's final gift.

The amount of work I was able to get done yesterday once my mother came by with Amirah. I was so grateful to have my mother with me for the next couple months.

"Where the fuck are they?"

Not being able to find my flip flops, I was at my point in annoyance. Sitting on my bed for a couple minutes, I took some deep breaths before getting up again and walking around.

"Finally."

Seeing them in the kitchen, I slipped them on and got my phone. Scrolling through my Instagram, I saw all the different happy birthday posts for Aug and just smiled.

"Daddy's a big deal you know." I spoke to my belly. "There's going to be times where he won't be around too but that don't mean anything but him working."

Feeling the baby move, I smiled. Most times when I mentioned Aug, as a response, the baby would either kick or move. On a regular day, if u just felt like have a conversation, I barely got a response.

"So you're going to be on your daddy's side huh?" I laughed as I sent him a text.

"Let's finish get ready so we can go and surprise him."

Getting my bag, I came back to the front and was about the leave when I heard my phone ringing in the kitchen.

"Shit, I thought I had that." I laughed.

"Yes mommy?"

"You left home as yet?"

"No, I'm about to leave now."

"You're always late."

"No I'm not and like I said I was about to leave now."

"Have you spoken to Aug for the morning?"

"I texted him, but didn't get a reply back so I guess he isn't in as yet. I knew their flight was delayed."

"Oh OK. Well just be safe, call me when you're at his place."

"I will mommy. I love you."

"You too."

Dropping the phone in my bag, I looked around to make sure everything was in order.

Stepping outside the door, I paused when I got a faint smell of a very familiar cologne.

Looking around, I didnt see anyone or sign of anyone being here. Shrugging, I locked up and got in my car and left.

August

Making my way to my car, a nigga was tired. Aside form having to switch flights, it got delayed which made things worse for me.

I was grateful for being able to see another year. I thanked everybody who called me and wished me happy birthday and was beyond grateful for my fans.

"Man you sure you can drive?"

"Yea woe, I'm straight. You need me to drop you home?"

"Nah. E taking me. He said he gotta go on that side."

"Aight man T. Well y'all drive safe."

"You too goon."

Dapping, him and the rest of my team, I got in my car and exhaled. Pulling out my phone as it constantly vibrated, I was about to put it on silent when I seen it was a text from Alei.

"Angel face❤: Morning babe. I take it you're back by now. Happy Birthday, I love you and can't wait to see you😘."-10:15am

Smiling, I locked back my screen and pulled off from the parking spot. Changing my mind from going straight home, I decided to go check her.

I missed my girl, I'm not going to lie and I had enough time to clear my mind and get past what happened. Though we needed to sit and talk, we would do that some time today just to clear everything.

"You gotta be fucking kidding me." I sighed.

One thing I hated was the Atlanta traffic and shit was ridiculous. Looking to my left, I decided to cut out and take the next turn off. Even though it was a longer way to Alei's place, shit didn't have any traffic.

Pulling up to her place, I shut off my car and got out. As I made my way up the driveway, I'd noticed her front door was open and heard talking.

"No I'm about to leave now."

Alei paced back and forth, slowly rubbing her belly. Smiling, when she stopped, I couldn't believe how beautiful she looked.

"I texted him, but didn't get a reply back so I guess he isn't in as yet. I knew their flight was delayed."

Deciding to not to disturb her, seeing as how she was about to head out, I decided to head home. I needed to take a rest anyway so I would do that then call her.

Hitting the locks on my car, I made my way to the front door and opened it.

"What the fuck!" I laughed.

Walking in, I closed the door behind me. Sitting in front of me was this giant teddy bear with three balloons around it.

As I approached it, I couldn't help but smile. Seeing a card, I opened it.

"Beary decided to help me wish you not only a happy birthday but a happy anniversary as well and also to tell you that I'm sorry."

Closing the card, I just looked at it all.

"She really loves me huh Beary?" I touched it.

Making my way to my room, I entered to another surprise. My bed was covered in a red comforter with white rose petals spread and three gift bags.

"This girl." I shook my head.

Taking a picture of the set up, I went into one of the bags. Pulling out a box with another card, I opened the box first.

"Huh?" I looked at the one side of J's in it.

Opening that card, I busted out laughing when I saw what was written.

"Rose are red, Violets are blue. You'll get the other side, once you show me what that mouth do!"

"Bruh what?" I laughed so hard. "This girl is crazy."

Taking out the other things in the bag, I was grateful for my new Rolex and the photo of us from her maternity shoot.

"She better give me my damn shoe though." I mumbled on my way back down stairs.

Entering the kitchen, I saw what looked like food set out. Pulling back the covers I was right and it looked good too.

"Rice, fried chicken, beans, stuffed bell peppers, cornbread and greens. Nice." I nodded.

Opening the fridge, I smiled seeing a birthday cake with my name on it.

"She really out did herself."

Taking another picture, I posted all three of them.

augustalsina: "When you got so much love for someone, despite what you are going through, you still got them. Came home to three surprises for my Birthday. Honestly didnt expect this, but I thank God every day for having you in my life❤."

I knew shit was about to blow up after that bit I didnt care. Getting a plate, I began to put out food while calling her.

"Damn baybeh, pick up!"

Remembering she was about to go somewhere, I called the next person I know she would be with.

"Shay, Alei with you?"
