Chapter 10

Alei

Waking up with a major headache, I rolled over to my other side and just laid there.

After August left, I asked Jaz to take me back home. I didn't know what was going on and nothing was making sense at this point.

"Alei?" I heard my mother knock.

"Yea?" I answered then cleared my throat.

Turning the knob, she entered.

"You ok babe. I didn't hear when you came in." She sat at the end of my bed.

"I'm fine mommy. I just had a long night that's all."

"You and Aug had a good time out." She smiled.

"We didn't go out last night."

"Oh."

"Yea. Jaz dropped me home."

"Ok. Is everything ok with the both of you?"

"I honestly don't know." I shook my head.

"Is it about the dream."

"No but I don't want to talk about it. Are you going to Auntie Charmaine's house?"

"Yup. You know as long as she cooks, I'm there."

Smiling a bit, I nodded.

"Everything will be ok love. Its just a bump in the road."

"I hope so." I sighed.

"Get up and get ready. Druex took Mirah out for breakfast so its just gonna be you here."

"You forever leaving me by myself. You're suppose to be here helping me."

"And I do but mommy gotta eat too." She laughed and got up.

"So do I."

"Well get dressed and come go with me. I'm sure your aunt would be happy to see you."

Agreeing, I got up and got ready. All while doing my hygiene and getting dressed, I though about August. He hadn't once tried to contact me, not like I wanted him too.

"Stop waiting on him to call and call him if you want to hear his voice."

"I can't stand when you do that."

"Do what? Be your mother?"

"Yes." I laughed.

"I know you more than you think love. Don't ever forget that."

"Yea. Well tell me why I continue to let guys play me." I sighed.

"Because your a good person who sees good in people. As for you and August, y'all need to communicate better than the way y'all do."

"I know but I can't deal with the lies mommy." I sat on my bed. "Its just too much."

"I understand but that don't mean you have to shut him out. I know he hurt you but for the sake of your unborn, just talk it out."

"Why does this feel like deja vu."

"Believe me its different now."

"How so?"

"You have someone who genuinely loves you that made a mistake."

Nodding I listened to my mother before finishing get ready.
