Alei
"Hey babe."
Smiling when I saw him, I greeted Tremaine with a hug.
"Bellies." He laughed as he rubbed it.
"I can't stand you." I laughed closing back the door.
Walking into the kitchen, with him hot on my trail, I got one of my fruit salad bowls out of the fridge as he searched the cupboard.
"What are you looking for?" I laughed eating piece of apple.
"A nigga hungry." He paused as we watched me.
"Uh uh. This is mines." I closed my bowl. "Let's go. When we get back I'll make a lasagna."
"You really gonna make me shop on an empty stomach?"
"Ugh."
Rolling my eyes, I passed him the bowl as I took my bottle of water and left the kitchen.
Getting my wallet and phone, we left. Taking his car, we headed back to Lennox Mall.
I had called the baby store asking if they had new baby furniture in stock and thankfully they did. Now its if I liked them.
"So how my babies been?"
"Amirah is good even though I feel like I don't ever see her."
"How so?"
"She is gone most of the day with my cousins and my mother. With me not being able to move around like I wish, they kept her busy with activities."
"Well that's good." He glanced at me.
"For her, yes. For me, no so much."
"I understand. I know you love spending time with her."
"As much as she drives me crazy." I smiled. "And well the baby is great. Doctor Sanders said he's in position even though we still have time."
"Ok cool. And you?"
"What about me?" I looked at him.
"That's what I'm asking love." He laughed.
"Oh. Right. Well I'm ok. I have my moments."
"Mhmm, and?"
"And what?"
"You know where this conversation is going."
"August and I are good." I looked out the window.
"Just good?"
"We're getting back to that place I guess." I shrugged.
"You guess? Alei, you still don't trust him do you?"
"I mean, I'm trying to work past it but its hard."
"I understand that, but y'all bringing a child into the world soon."
"You said the same thing when I was pregnant with Amirah." I looked at him.
"I did?"
"Yes you did and look where it put me."
Sighing, he didn't say anything. Pulling into a parking spot, I undid my seat belt and got out with his help of course.
With my belly being full, it was harder to do things on my own and it annoyed me. I hated depending on people so now that I had too, I tried not to let it frustrate me, but it did.
"You got it?" He asked as I fixed my maxi dress.
"Mhmm." I nodded.
Putting on my sunglasses we walked in. Whether it was Aug, Trey or even Druex, I tried to stay low key.
