Simple Love (A Tom Daley Love Story)

Chapter 21

We had been on the plane a couple of hours, Tonia had moved off to talk to Sarah and before Tom could react I turned and kissed him saying "This incredible! Thank you so much!" He laughed "Do you like it then?" "Duh! Oh and by the way the little diver will always remind me of you and that you call me your little diver" I replied "How can I ever thank you enough?" He pretended to think for a moment "Try kissing me again... I like it." I grinned and wrapped my arms around his neck. It was about 11pm in our time zone, most people had gone to sleep and I looked over to see Tonia had fallen asleep with Sarah and Anna. I nudged Tom and showed him, he grinned and whispered "I have you all to myself then!" And pressed his lips to mine. To have the boy I loved kissing me was intoxicating, I knew he didn't feel the same though...

After a few minutes of this, out if the corner of my eye I saw the small DVD screens light up, I pulled away from Tom and turned to see One Day start I whispered "I love this! Movie night on a plane!" Tom chuckled and pulled a blanket out from under the seat and wrapped it round both of us. I brought my feet up and snuggled into Tom as he put an arm around my shoulders and rested his head on mine. The film played on and we shuffled around changing positions and snacking while the other passengers slept around us, the film was emotional and as the credits rolled I could feel my cheeks were flushed, tears squeezing out my eyes and my lips were redder and slightly puffy. "Lily what's wrong?" Tom asked worriedly looking into my eyes, "It's just so sad!" I sniffled "I mean they were so happy, it makes me feel like I'm going to be alone forever..." Tom hugged me tighter and said "Shh it's ok! You will, a smart, funny pretty little thing like you! I tell you what!" He sat up properly "if you and I are still single like they were at 35 let's get married!" "You mean each others back up plan?" I asked, "Yep" he said "Depends on whether you ask nicely!" I said already more cheerful. Tom looked down on me solemnly "Lily-Rose Emmeline Harrison, will you be my back up wife?" He finished with a wink, I looked up equally solemn "Thomas Robert Daley, I accept." We both broke out into hushed giggles. I yawned and he did the same "C'mon hubby!" I said "Let's get some sleep." He nodded whilst stifling another yawn and pulled a lever so his seat reclined, I did the same and turned the little light off. I felt Tom reach for my hand and I soon fell asleep.

I woke to the hostesses coming round with the breakfast options, I saw Tonia next to Tom's still sleeping form and smiled she grinned back "Hello! You've been asleep a while! We land in 2hrs!" I yawned and said "Gracious! Well I need breakfast!" She passed me a cup of coffee and a plastic container which I opened to find pancakes, "Go nuts!" She said standing up "I'm off to see the others, Tom's is there when he wakes." She walked off wiggling her eyebrows at me suggestively. I was confused but quickly was distracted by the pancakes. A bit later I was still eating when I felt a hand playing with my hair, falling out of a plait I had put it in previously. I turned to see Tom smiling a me "Hungry." He said and pointed at himself "Way ahead of you" I said and laughed as he scoffed the pancakes. A few minutes our breakfasts were finished, Tonia was back and we were lazily chatting. We carried on for what felt like a short time but soon we heard "Ladies and Gentlemen we will soon be landing in Hong Kong airport. Thank you for flying with British Airways." Later I was stepping out of the plane into brilliant sunshine. It was a long wait till our flight to Adelaide but I was enjoying myself.
