Simple Love (A Tom Daley Love Story)

Chapter 39

We were sat down in the sitting room of the house in Adelaide with drinks and books spread out over the floor. "Lily could you help me with Italian please, I don't understand the conjugation of this verb!" Alicia asked as she crossed out more stuff on paper. It was our little homework club, they were all studying for exams and so the afternoon off we spent in peace while the adults went off sightseeing.

"Sure!" I replied and moved up next to her to explain. After Alicia was satisfied I chatted to jack for a few minutes as he explained his exam setup and revision schedule, it was a hot day do when I went out to refill drinks I opened some windows, a person was walking in this direction and waved at me leaning out.

I waved back as I recognised Zach and strolled outside to say hi. "How are you?" He asked after exchanging hellos, "Fine thanks, and you?" I replied, "Great, you up to much?" He asked, I explained about our homework group and he laughed at my explanation, "Are you looking forward to semis?" He asked. "Yeah definetly!" I said "But how come you did tower, I remember Kass saying you were a springboard diver?" He shrugged nonchalantly "I practice a bit of tower just to mix it up, but I'm better at springboard." He paused to look at his watch and said "Oh I must get back, I'll catch you soon Lily!" He paused again looking into my eyes as I said "Yeah see you soon!" And before I could process what he was doing he leaned in to kiss my lips, in horror I pulled my head to the side so his lips met my cheek but he pulled away saying "Oh I'm sorry that was stupid! Sorry for making you uncomfortable Lily!" I but my lip, feeling sorry for him and said "Yeah I'm kinda committed..." He looked me in the eyes saying "Tom finally asked you huh?" And I as nodded he said "Right well sorry." And walked quickly in the opposite direction.

I still felt bad and was still pondering and biting my lip when I walked up the stairs to see Hannah waiting for me holding the door open. "Lily... I came to see if you needed help with the drinks, you were taking a while but I'm sorry I was interupting something." she said as she shifted uncomfortably, "Oh Hannah no it's nothing Zach just got the wrong idea! Please dont tell anyone! I honestly don't like him that way and I don't want people to get the wrong idea!" I whispered desperately as the others were only a few doors away, she shook her head. "No, I'd never dream of telling them I was just wondering why you turned him down? I mean I know you have Tom but you know you could enjoy yourself while you're out here right?" i shrugged and she said "It is Tom isn't it? I'm shocked he hasnt asked you out yet!" my silence and blushing cheeks were enough of a hint to her and she gasped saying "Oh yay! Oh don't worry i wont even tell Lissy..." I squeezed her wrist gently to show my appreciation and said "Thanks Hannah, I appreciate it. Now back to the drinks huh?"

We returned to the others with trays and as I passed Tom's his with a smile he took the empty tray from my  hands, placed it behind him and pulled me by my wrist to sit by him saying "Lily darling could you just read this out for me?" with a charming smile that I couldnt help to respond to by "Of course." with a happy grin confident in my head that I'd done the right refusing Zach as a summer fling thing. 

Later when I leaning over some papers to pick up a book Alicia had asked me to pass my necklace slipped out from under my polo shirt and hung down, i was oblivious talking to Alicia simultaneously but out of the corner of my eye I saw Tonia who had returned and was lounging on the floor lean in and look in puzzlement at my neckline. I turned to her saying "Are you ok Ton?" as i followed her eyeline to my neck and as it dawned on me hastily scooped up the neckace with it's charms on the end and stuffed back under my top so only the silver chain was visible. "Um yeah I'd just never noticed that charm necklace Lily, what's on it?" she looked me in the eyes as she said this and I could feel my cheeks heating up. "Oh um a little pair of ballet shoes." I cleared my throat in the hope of steadying my voice and I also felt Tom stiffen slightly remembering the diver charm and the T and L interlinked. "Oh I could swear there was some writing as well!" Tonia continued seemingly oblivious to my discomfort, "Oh yes!" Tom butted in before I could come up wih some poor explanation, "It's just Lily Rose in Chinese symbols isn't Lil?" I nodded furiously and shot Tom a grateful look as Tonia's attention changed before she could figure out too many answers and complete the puzzle.

That was a close one...
