Chapter 29

We were strolling back from the restaurant when Tom stopped and said "Lily I really want to do this..." I was confused and stated to say "What?" But was interrupted by his hand stroking my cheek through to my hair and moving my head towards his and his lips crashed to mine with passion. I still had stomach twists every time and they were still alive and kicking while I folded my body to his and our tongues met. But he broke away and said leaning his forehead against mine "Lily I feel differently about you, I don't want you to feel I'm using you or that we're friends with benefits... I don't thats respectful towards girls but I really like you and I think in a while maybe we should make it more?" His face looked tense like he was holding his breath in anticipation for my answer when I pressed my lips to his and said "I feel exactly the same, but we're in a good place... We can move on whenever." I saw his smile gleam in the dusky light and he pulled me along by the hand back towards the house.

As soon as I got in I was pounced on by Tonia and rushed to her room with Sarah hot on our heels. I laughed as I was pushed to the bed and Tonia slammed the door, pressed herself against the back then shot towards me half shrieking half whispering "Ohhh my goodness! Tell me sweet everything! Tom finally did it!" I laughed again as I saw their eager faces "Sorry to disappoint but we just went as friends and left as friends," their eyes nearly popped out their heads and they simultaneously hissed "What?" In hushed tones. "It was just a friendly dinner, y'know it's been really busy and we just wanted a catch up..." Sarah gasped "So he didn't ask you be his girlfriend?" I shook my head and Tonia looked bordering on furious "I will have words with him you two blatantly are going to get together but he is taking his time!" I just grinned and said "Tonny serious don't flip! We're in a good place as best friends and plus it'd be weird y'know if anything should happen I mean I'm here to work and everything and his family are coming out soon it'd just be awkward!" They seemed to calm down a Tonia took a deep breath "Right I'm putting a time limit on this though!" and walked to the door abruptly yanking it open and she jumped back in surprise as Hannah, Alicia and Jack fell in to the room obviously they'd been eavesdropping. "How much did you hear?" I said aghast, Jack stood up rubbing his arm from where he'd hit it on the door and said "Pretty much everything but don't worry Chris is keeping Tom occupied", I paled "You cannot say a word to Tom!" In a threatening whisper "Alicia, Hannah I think I trust you two but Jack I swear I will hurt you if you breathe a word or suggest anything to Tom, understood?" He nodded and grinned "Jeez Lils you can be scary!" I grinned back "Yep, you stay scared Laugher!" I winked at him then said "I'm headed for bed... Goodnight!" They chorused a "Goodnight!" back and Hannah and Alicia followed me. "How was dinner?" I asked "Good!" Alicia said and Hannah replayed with a nudge and a "Yours obviously was too!" I gave her a shove and settled down for bed.

The next morning I woke with the bright sunshine pouring in and a few minutes later there was a knock at the door, I ran too it careful not to wake the others and opened it to see a cheerful Tom "Hey!" I said "What brings you here?" He smiled and said "Hi, just came to say we're doing some breakfast now and Anna wants you to do 'the routine to the same people' of that makes sense to you, as we are heading to the pool at 11." I assured him I knew what it meant and after a quick peck on his surprised lips I bolted back to the room and shut the door but not before I glimpsed Tom's surprised face. I walked over to Hannah first gently shaking her shoulders saying "Han... Time to get up!" As she stirred and cracked her eyes I moved to Alicia and did the same. A few minutes later we were headed downstairs.
