(y/n) ran down the hallway with Hermione close behind as they were being chased by a three-headed dog. It seemed about 100 times the size of them and was covered in drool. (y/n) quickly opened up a door and they both ran through it, shutting it behind them and panting heavily. They looked at each other with wide eyes.

"We need that stone." came a echoed voice.

(y/n)'s eyebrows furrowed as she began walking down the long and narrow corridor.

"And I will get it for you master...b-b-by the end of the year." said another voice.

"(y/n) wake up! You don't want to be late on the first day!"

She felt a jolt as someone shook her. She slowly opened her eyes and saw Hermione standing over her, already dressed and ready for the day. She looked around the room for a moment, confused by her surroundings. She must have dreamed that she was with Hermione in that room...but it felt so real.

"Come on! Get ready! We have to go to breakfast before Transfigurations!" Hermione exclaimed.

(y/n) nodded as she sat up and rubbed her eyes. She got out of bed and got ready as the two headed down to breakfast. Hermione ate quickly, repeating how excited she was for the first day. (y/n) ate what she could and the two headed to Transfigurations class. (y/n) sat down next to Hermione and got all of her supplies out and ready on the desk. She noticed that the first year Slytherins were in the same class as well, which made her feel a little uneasy. They all seemed very intimidating.

"Welcome to Transfiguration. I assume you all have gotten the necessary equipment needed for this class and I am looking forward to teaching you this term. Now, if you would please copy down what I have written on the board, we will begin shortly." Professor McGonagall instructed as she walked towards her desk.

She suddenly transformed into a cat and jumped onto her desk, making everyone gasp and mutter to each other in amazement. (y/n) and Hermione shared a look of excitement before doing as they were told. (y/n) had never used a quill before so taking notes took a lot longer than at her muggle school. A few minutes had rolled by before Harry and Ron ran into the classroom, late and out of breath. (y/n) and Hermione picked up their heads and looked at both of them curiously.

"Amazing, can you imagine the look on old McGonagall's face if we were late?" Ron asked Harry.

McGonagall, still in her cat form, jumped off the desk and transformed back into herself. Ron and Harry looked at her in amazement and slight embarrassment.

"That was bloody brilliant!" Ron exclaimed.

"Thank you for your assessment, Mr. Weasley. Maybe if I were to transfigure Mr. Potter and yourself into a pocket watch, one of you would be on time." Professor McGonagall responded.

(y/n) let out a quiet giggle.

   "We got lost." Harry defended.

"Then perhaps a map? I trust you don't need one to find your seats." she motioned for the two boys to sit down.

They sat down at the desk across from (y/n) and Hermione. (y/n)'s stare lingered for a moment until Ron met her gaze. She gave him a quick smile and looked back down at her parchment.

(y/n) walked into the Potions classroom nervously, noticing all of the cauldrons and jars of ingredients sitting on the shelves. She had heard things about Professor Snape from some of the older students and none of them were good. (y/n) sat on the end of the table, next to Hermione, so that Professor Snape wouldn't notice her. She didn't want to be called out on her first day when she knew absolutely nothing.
