(y/n) slowly opened her eyes to the sunlight shining in her room. She rubbed her eyes and looked over to see what time it was. She hopped out of bed quickly seeing that it was much later than she had thought. She walked down the hall to where her family were sitting at the table, already eating breakfast.

"It's about time you're up." her father spoke, shoving more food into his mouth.

"I'm sorry. I didn't realize it was so late. I had set an alarm last night, but it didn't go off." (y/n) apologized.

"That's alright dear." her mother kindly replied. (y/n) sat at the table, eating the food that was in front of her. "This came in the mail for you."

Her mother pushed a letter closer to her. (y/n) examined it curiously. She hardly ever got mail so she was taken aback to say the least.

Miss (y/n) Adler,

4200 Crowns Street

Crockham Hill, Edenbridge

She carefully opened the letter and took out the paper inside. She unfolded it and looked upon the words written on the page.

Dear Miss Adler,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.

Term begins on September 1st. We await your owl by no later than July 31st.

Yours Sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall

Deputy Headmistress

A school for wizards? (y/n) thought she might be going insane. She quickly folded up the piece of paper and put it back in the envelope.

"What did you get?" her mother asked.

"Oh nothing. Just a letter from one of my friends at school." (y/n) lied.

She knew she had to be going crazy, or that someone was playing a prank on her.

"Oh...well I thought, since your birthday is coming up in a few days, that we could go shopping together for your gift." her mother suggested. (y/n) looked up from the letter and smiled.

   "Sure...sounds fun." (y/n) replied.

She finished her breakfast and retreated back into her room. She reopened the letter and stared at it. It seemed real, but wizards weren't real...were they? She heard a knock at her door as she quickly put the letter behind her back. Her mother walked in cautiously.

"(y/n)...there's someone here to see you." her mother noticed (y/n)'s hands behind her back and looked at her curiously. "What's that?"

   "Nothing." she said quickly.

Her mother walked over to her and grabbed the letter behind her back. (y/n) looked at her uncomfortably as she examined it, reading carefully.

"Well I guess that makes more sense about the surprise guest in our living room." her mother stated.

(y/n) looked at her with confusion as her mother led her out into the living room. A lady with a pointy witch hat and a long velvety green dress stood patiently, admiring the decor. She smiled at (y/n) when she saw her.
