Chapter one

Dian's POV

A bad day can really lead to frustration and too bad, the person who get cursed was my secretary.

"Get your f*cking a*s inside my office, now!" I said coldly into the intercom.
Seconds later she came in, she was practically shaking.

"Sir you called for me?" She asked,rubbing her sweaty palm together.

"Was that even supposed to be a question?" I asked angrily, my eyes fixed on her face.
Don't get me wrong,I wasn't accessing her.

"Why the hell didn't you remind me of the meeting in the next building?" I asked obviously angry.
She looked up immediately and bowed her head calmly.

"Am really sorry Mr Lawson,I was so engrossed in mailing the month report to the account department and i forgot to add the reminder on your schedule." she said. "Please am sorry,"

Lidia have been my assistant for over two years now and to be truthful,she knows how to do her job well but a single mistake just ruined it now.

"Get out of my office and never come back." I said angrily and she goes on her kneels.

"Mr Lawson......Mr Lawson please don't do this, am begging you please." she begged, I don't care if she begs or not. My mind was already made up.

"Should I call the security to help you exit my company Miss Lexington?" I asked calmly and her face dropped, she picked up her iPod and exit the office.

I picked up my phone and dialed a number

"Get the car ready." I said before hanging up.

I picked my suit jacket from the couch and walk out of the office.
Getting inside my private elevator I  pressed the button and waited for it to move.

I got downstairs and stroll towards Daniel who opened the car door when he sighted me.

"Good day sir." he greeted and I nodded

I entered the car and let out a light sigh.

"To the next building" I said and he nodded

The car came back to life as he drove off along the road.

I gaze out of the window staring at the city and the people in it.

The car stopped signifying that we there already.
Daniel came down and opened the door for me.

I went inside the building amidst greetings from my employees.

I went into my private elevator as it bring me to the meeting floor.

I went inside the meeting room and there they are making noise just like they used to.

They stopped talking as soon ad they saw me.

I went across the room and sat down on the front chair looking at them one after the other.

"So well,are we going to start now? I asked as they stare at one another quietly.

"Lidia, prepare the......" I trailed off as realization hits me.
I've already fire her earlier.

Fuck!
How am I suppose to start the meeting without Lidia here?

I put a call across to the project team manager.

"Hello sir" he greeted
"Send me a capable employee to be my assistant for a day,make sure she is capable else both of you are done for." I seethed out and hang up.

Everywhere was still quiet except from the click that I keep making on my phone.

Few minutes later the door opened and a young lady came in.

"I'll be your personal assistant for today Mr Lawson" she said and smiled

"Get prepare and let's start business." I said and clear my throat.

"What's the report?" I asked, expecting an answer but then all this old men enjoys is getting

"I just asked a question, what's the report!" I yelled, banging my hand on the table.

Ava's POV

I walk along the street of new York with no where in particular to go to.

I was stranded without nothing.

Now I feel tired and hungry, both of them ain't available and no one to give it.

I sat down on the bench at the bus stop and drop my bag on my leg thinking of my next step.

Where do I go from here?

The word of my papa still ringing in my head like a bell.

"You are a disappointment Ava,you loose the right of being my daughter the day you got pregnant" he said

The word hurts,I turned to mom thinking that she gon' understand me but the reverse was the case.

"You disgust me Ava,are you planning to tarnish our image?
You stopped being my daughter " she added and left me outside the house to wallow in my own shame.

It was nobody's fault but purely mine

This shouldn't have happened,why? Why did it have to be me of all people?

Though I don't regret being pregnant but not now,a pregnancy which I don't know who is responsible how can I stand that shame?

I land my head on the bench and rubbed my tummy tenderly.

"I will protect you baby,even if the whole world stands against me but I promise you,am bringing you to the world safely" I said and smiled to myself.

I dropped my bag on the bench since the place was empty and lay on the bench gently.

It was getting late as my stomach growl, I need food.
My throat dry without nothing to eat.
I opened my bag and rummage through it searching for anything eatable but there was nothing.

Except my cloth and my phone nothing else.

I sigh in frustration.
What next now?

I think it will be better for me to look for a job in other to survive this situation else I don't think I can survive.

It was getting late already,places like restaurant and hotels started getting light up.

People were now pack in the bus stop waiting for the next bus.

Who would think that I will one day unable to feed myself?

I guess destiny had played a really tricky game on me.

Last night I managed to escape from a rapist tonight how am I sure that I would be that lucky?

I prayed silently hoping for the best to come out of tonight,tomorrow morning I'll start searching for job anyone at all.

Third person's POV

After the meeting full of yelling and cursing,Dian left the company very late in the evening.

"Sir, should I drive back to the other building? Daniel asked

"You know me better than this Daniel,don't tempt me" he snapped at him while the later bowed his head and concentrate more on his driving.

Ava tried to close her eyes and sleep but the Thought of getting raped sends chill shivers down her spine.

She stood up from the bench and sat down calmly holding her breath.

It was so late in night and she could hear noise from a far.

"What is going on? She asked herself in panic.
