Colby's POV

I slowly opened my eyes and I immediately thought I was dreaming, a blinked my eyes quickly a few times and confirmed I wasn't dreaming. Savannah really was sitting beside me staring at me in a concerned fashion.

"Yes I'm really here." Savannah said softly while looking at me, her eyes held so much sadness. At first I was so happy to see her but when I fully focused on her I realized something was wrong, really wrong. Every part of her body was bruised, stitched, busted, and cut. I immediately sat up and tried to hold her but she gently pushed me away, almost as if she was afraid I'd hurt her." Savannah, come here. You know I won't hurt you..." I said softly.

"I'm sorry Colby, I just really don't want to be touched right now.." She said softly looking ashamed. She looked so broken, she looked nothing like the girl I fell in love with.

"Where are we?" I suddenly asked as I looked around, it was completely dark besides one singular light bulb illuminating the room.

"The basement of my family estate. Dimitri had you kidnapped on your way to Russia." She replied avoiding direct eye contact with me. That answer just made me have about a million more questions.

"Who's Dimitri?" I asked looking at her.

"The man who killed my parents in cold blood." She said simply." A man I once trusted with my life and thought of as family. You know him as my stalker." She added as she looked at the ground to avoid looking at me.

"Wait...he killed your parents?!?!" I said loudly out of shock, realizing just how dangerous this guy was.

"Mhm, put a bullet straight through my father's skull." She said emotionlessly.

"I'm so sorry..Savannah." I said and made a move to comfort her once more and she once again rejected me which I didn't understand.

"I know you have a million questions, so let me just start off with.." She began to say but I cut her off.

"I just want to know who the hell am I dating?!" I asked in frustration just wanting the truth for once.

"My name is Katerina Petrova, daughter of Alexander and Leinani Petrova. I was born and raised in Moscow, Russia in this very estate. Since the moment I could walk, I began my training to take over for my father. To take over the Petrova mafia, a fate neither of my parents wanted destined to me but alas my mother was only able to produce one child. Which meant I was heir to the throne rather I wanted it or not. The moment I could walk I began hand to hand combat. I learned how to shoot a gun at age ten. By the time I was twelve I was faster, stronger and smarter than any heir to any mafia in all of Russia possibly the world. I learned to survive, to protect my family, to protect my people and to protect myself. You see Colby, I am the last of the Petrova bloodline. A bloodline that's been in the mafia since Russia first came to be. With my parents gone, Dimitri is trying to take over but he can't. My allies will not sign off on him as leader while I'm still alive and if I was suddenly to turn up dead then they'd know he killed me and kill him in return. So instead he wants me to marry him. I've refused so I've been here ever since and will continue to be down here till I die." She said and I sat there quietly for a minute trying to fully comprehend everything she just said.

"..You're in the mafia?" I asked in shock.

"That's correct." She replied.

"...As in you kill people?" I asked.

"We aren't what you see on American television. Every country has a mafia, we happen to be the main one of Russia. We protect the people of this city. We do not hire children I was an exception since my father was in charge and had to train me young, we do not sell illegal drugs, we do not go looking for trouble. My father owned multiple hotels and other businesses that accounted for our wealth, we used said money to build housing for the homeless, more hospitals, etc. We worked hand in hand with our government to keep our nation safe. Or so I thought anyways.." She said when suddenly someone entered the room and she immediately stood in front of me protectively.

"Elijah?!" I said completely shocked to see him here.

"It's Nicklaus actually, pet." Elijah said.

"Do none of you people ever use your actual names?!" I asked in frustration more annoyed by that fact then the fact he called me a pet.

Katerina's POV

"Stay the hell away from him." I said glaring at Nicklaus as he approached us.

"I can handle myself, Savannah. I mean Katerina." Colby said standing up and standing in front me.

"See Katerina, your pet said he could handle himself." Nicklaus said with a smirk and snapped his fingers, suddenly five men appeared beside him." Are you saying he can't?" He asked a smirk still present on his lips.

"I'm saying if you so much as touch him, I will end you." I said and finally snapped launching myself with the strength I had left at Nicklaus and spearing him to the floor then began punching away. But it didn't take long for one of his men to pick me up and toss me onto the steel floor hard.

Meanwhile I glanced over and Colby was being put into the same cuffs I had previously been in and hooked up to an IV. It took three men to accomplish this as Colby was putting up a fight but they managed. Nicklaus got off the floor and dusted himself off." Now you can watch me break your girlfriends arm, pet." He said looking at Colby. I was still trying to regain full consciousness as Nicklaus walked over and stepped on my arm then grabbed my hand, before pulling my arm completely out of its socket. I could see Colby desperately trying to break free but it was no use.

"I'm in charge now pet, get used to it." He sneered at Colby. I could feel an immense amount pain in my right arm that had just been popped out of socket as I sat up.

"You won't get away with this!" Colby said seething with anger, but the drugs in the IV were slowly putting him to sleep.

"Oh really? You asked if your girlfriend was in a mafia that killed right?" Nicklaus asked and suddenly there was a man putting a gun to Colby's head. Much to my confusion Nicklaus tossed me a gun and without a second thought I caught it with my good hand and shot the man who had the gun pointed at Colby." There's your answer." Nicklaus replied as I realized I had fallen into his trap.

I looked up to meet Colby's eyes and the moment I did I knew something changed. He no longer saw Savannah the women he once loved. He saw Katerina, he saw the side of me I had purposely hidden since we met. He saw the darkest parts of me.

"I...I...I.. had no choice, he was going to kill you! I told you from the moment we met I'd do anything to protect you." I said immediately and then turned the gun to Nicklaus.

"It only had one bullet in it sweetheart. Also the man you just shot, his gun wasn't even loaded. You just shot an unarmed man." Nicklaus said picking the gun up from the now dead man and opened its chambers to show there indeed wasn't a bullet to be seen. I didn't regret my actions, I wasn't going to gamble Colby's life on rather or not a gun was loaded. If that made me heartless than so be it. I'd rather Colby be alive and afraid of me, then be dead and in love with me.

"Well I'll leave you two lovers alone for now. See you in the morning." Nicklaus suddenly said taking the gun away from me before heading out.

"...You shot him, Katerina." Colby said shock still written on his face but before I could answer the drugs knocked him out. I could've taken the IV out but if I did Nicklaus would just come back and torture him in a worse way. At least he was safe if he was asleep.

"I'm sorry you had to see the real me..." I said softly to his sleeping body as I rammed my shoulder against the brick wall to pop my shoulder back into place then laid on my blanket and silently cried myself to sleep.
