A week later

Colby's POV

It has officially been one week since Katerina had slipped into a coma due to the blood loss and trauma her body had endured. She was currently being treated at the best hospital in Russia thankfully. Plus her family apparently funded the hospital so she was getting all the best doctors and around the clock care. At least the mafia was good for one thing. The only real downside well beside her being in a coma was the fact that only one doctor spoke English. Meaning I always had to wait for him to come in to get any updates on Katerina and discuss her overall progress.

Thankfully neither of the bullets hit any bones or arteries meaning she'd suffer no permanent damage if she awoke from the coma. The doctors said she should be waking up any moment now but they couldn't be certain. There was a very slim chance she could never wake up but the doctors said it was highly unlikely and not to dwell on that possibility.

While were here the doctors have also been treating her cuts, bruises and other miscellaneous marks. Her body was slowly healing from all the torment she endured. Her shoulder and thigh wounds were packed and bandage wrapped so they wouldn't get infected. Her face was so pale though and her skin was cold to the touch which hurt my heart.

I had not left her side, I refused. The moment Mr.Popov got the call about Katerina he dropped me off here to be with her and since then I've been sitting beside her holding her hand. My little warrior did it, she killed Dimitri and Nicklaus. I was so proud of her.

"Please wake up my love, I miss you so much." I said gently kissing her forehead." I'm here, Katerina. And I will wait here forever for you." I said soothingly looking at her softly hoping for some sign of life. I sighed softly as nothing happened at all. Suddenly the doctor that spoke English came in and gave me a sympathetic smile as he checked Katerina's vitals. He kept suggesting for me to get some rest but I refused, I'd sleep once I knew my love was going to be okay.

"Her heart beat is getting stronger which is good. All her vitals seem well today. It's a strong possibility that she'll be waking up today or tomorrow." The doctor said looking at me then made notes on his clipboard.

"Thank you doc. That's great to hear." I said letting out a sigh of relief.

"Also there will be a nurse coming in shortly to bathe and dress her wounds Mr.Lopez." He added.

"Is there anyway I can do that instead of a nurse?" I asked softly.

"If that's what you would prefer then yes, just please be careful. A nurse will drop off the supplies shortly. Once you're done bathing her, just hit the button on her bedside table and a nurse will repack and rebandage her open wounds." The doctor said and I nodded, he then walked off to attend to other patients.

"You hear that beautiful? You'll be waking up any moment now. I can't wait to see those baby blue eyes of yours that you hid from me for so long." I said with a soft smile giving her hand a squeeze as a nurse walked in with a bucket of warm soapy water and a sponge. She left them beside Katerina's bed and nodded at me then left closing the door behind her.

I walked over and locked the door, then walked over to Katerina and carefully took off her hospital gown." Lets get you all cleaned up my love." I said dipping the sponge in the warm soapy water then rung it out before beginning to wash her. I started on her upper body, very carefully scrubbing her arms and chest making sure not to irate her stitches. I dipped the sponge in the warm water once more and began cleaning her lower body, softly humming to myself as I washed her completely.

Once I was done washing her, I grabbed the towel and gently patted her dry before putting a new hospital gown on her." All clean my love, hopefully you feel better after that." I said with a warm smile then gently sat her up and began brushing her hair taking out all the knots and tangles. I knew Katerina valued her appearance, so she would appreciate being well groomed and bathed when she woke up.

I finished getting all the knots and tangles out of her hair then carefully laid her head back on the bed. "There you go my love, looking as beautiful as ever." I said taking to her motionless body. If it wasn't for the constant beeping of the monitor displaying her heartbeat I honestly wouldn't be able to tell she was alive. "Now lets get those wounds of yours clean." I said softly trying not to focus on the fact she still hasn't woken up and hit the button for a nurse.

I sat back down on the chair beside her and a nurse came in a few moments later. The nurse began to undue Katerina's shoulder bandages carefully, then began to unpack the wound. The packing was soaked in blood as the bullet had pierced deep in her shoulder tissue leaving a pretty big open wound. Words couldn't describe how mad I was that either Dimitri or Nicklaus had the audacity to shoot the love of my life. While I didn't condone violence, I was glad they were dead. Justice was served as far as I was concerned, the world would be a better place with them gone.

One thing I couldn't help but wonder as the nurse cleaned Katerina's thigh wound now, was what was next for us. Would Katerina want to stay here and rule the mafia? After all, she trained her entire life to be the mafia queen. But after all she's been through, would that still be her want. And if she did want to lead the mafia then where did that leave me? I couldn't live like this. I didn't want to constantly fear that someone may kill the person I love. That was no way to live in my eyes.

Plus, I had to go back to work soon. I managed to get in touch with Vince and gave him some bullshit story about my health that he bought but was expecting me to return in two weeks. I couldn't ask Katerina to give up her birth right especially after how hard she fought for it but I knew that mafia life just wasn't for me and never would be. I just hoped she would understand that. We really were going to have to have a difficult conversation about where we stand and what we wanted in life once she woke up.

However all that could wait, what mattered most was Katerina waking up and being healthy. The nurse finished cleaning and repacking both Katerina's wounds then left without a word as she knew I couldn't understand her.

"What I wouldn't do to see your baby blue eyes stare back at me. I love you so much, Katerina." I said lovingly then kissed her softly, as I kissed her I noticed her eyes slowly opening.

"Katerina!" I exclaimed in excitement and surprise immediately hitting the emergency button multiple times calling for her doctor as Katerina blinked her eyes a few times as if trying to figure out where she was as she looked like she was in a haze.

"Everything is going to be okay my love, just please keep your eyes open!" I said looking at her as suddenly her doctor came running into her room.
