sliver of light

there was darkness

that much I can remember

such darkness

you'd drown in

such darkness

you'd hear your own jagged heart beat

such darkness

your sanity would shatter

I wanted out

I could feel my sanity leaving

drifting in this abyss

but then there it was

and it was glorious

-a sliver of light

that's how Death came to me

it picked my tormented soul

and in its arms it carried me

it put me back together

all my shattered remnants

and it carried me to the next stop

then it left

there I saw light

too much of it

it blinded me

and I cried

and I whimpered

and I screamed

I wanted to go back

to the darkness

to the beauty of the abyss
