sinking

At first I gasp for air
Bloodshot eyes and a soundless scream of despair
But it was no use
Like a burnt out fuse
The air around me escapes
And you dissapear behind closed drapes
The water seeps in
Cooling my skin
When my eyes flutter shut
And I feel a churn in my gut
The darkness blinds and welcomes me
But I do not wish to flee
I hear nothing but a foreshadowing silence
And in my racing thoughts, there were no sirens
I sink lower and lower
My heart beating slower and slower
The light above me dims
With time it gradually slims
Wisps of my hair float just beyond my peripheral sight
My fragile heart has lost its fight
Find me at the bottom of the ocean
The once archaic tides will sweep you into motion
There is an aesthetic art in the descent
I might be drowning but I am content
