Chapter 7: Why am I giggling?

Matutulog na dapat ako, kaso hindi mapuknat yung ngiti ko sa nangyari over dinner eh. Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala sa sinabi ni Cev. Kaya kinuha ko yung cellphone ko sa bedside table and called him.

"Hello. Dating office. How may I help you?" He joked.

Napatawa ako sa bungad niya. Hmn. He wants to play. "I'm looking for someone to date." I stated, sinabayan ko pa nang hagikhik.

"Do you have any qualities in mind?" He asked. I can feel him grinning.

I imagined him. "I want him to be tall. Muscular. With deep voice and pointed nose." I said dreamily.

"I know a person that will pass the qualifications. Your date is tomorrow. He will pick you up at 9." He said and hung up.

Totoo nga! I pinched myself just to make sure that I'm not dreaming. 'Aray! Masakit!' Totoo nga. Magde-date kami bukas. Then automatically the conversation during the dinner played in my mind.

"The truth is.." He looked at me and smiled. His megawatt smile. Makalaglag panty smile. "I have known your daughter the moment she stepped in our firm's office." Nagulat ako sa revelation niya.

 

Hindi ako makapaniwala, but then he squeezed my hand to assure me that what he's saying was the truth. I squeezed his hand back to encourage him to go on.

 

He gave out deep breaths. Animo kinakabahan talaga. "I was watching her every move." His face became darker. Hotter. A blush crept on my cheeks. Why did it sound so sensual?

 

"Kaso, hindi nya ako napapansin. Hindi rin naman kasi ako nagpapapansin talag. I know she's one hell of a trouble." Nagsalubong ang kilay ko. "I mean, siya yung tipong seryosohan. And, I don't want commitment at the moment." My face fell.

 

"Kung ayaw mo ng commitment bakit mo hinahawakan at minamasa masahe yang kamay ng anak ko?" Nakakunot noong sabi ni Papa. Saka ko lang binawi yung kamay ko pero inabot lang ni Cev saka hinawakan ng mahigpit.

 

"Sir." He said. "Let me finish first." Authorative niyang sabi.

 

Nagdilim yung mukha ni Papa. Then I saw the hands of my mother on his arms. Making him relax. "Okay." Labas sa ilong na sabi ni Papa.

 

"Then, I saw her on my way here. Her car broke down. I offerred her a ride.." Ibinitin niya yung sinasabi niya. I eyed him! Giving him the 'please don't tell them look' Not the ride we did. Oh, please! Hindi ko kayang harapin si Papa with him saying that he deflowered me noh.

 

"Then, I got to know her and I've realized that she's fun to be with. And, I want to know her more. If you will let me." He said.

 

Ano daw? I looked at him asking him what he just said and if he's serious about it but he shrugged his shoulders at me. Then he looked away. He's waiting for my father's reply.
