"I won't be gone for long", Pepper told her little girl before leaving the cabin for her business trip. Morgan didn't take this as well as Bruce did however. But Bruce managed to calm her down, some how. Morgan was now up in her room playing with a few toys as Bruce enjoyed the living room to himself. He was reading his book again, almost near the end of it. He found it really enjoyable throughout the whole thing. Along other the book, Bruce enjoyed a nice cup of green tea. He planned on making breakfast for the two of them later. He'll probably just cheat it and make Eggo waffles and claim that he made them from 'scratch'. Morgan won't know the difference. As long as she got fed she was content, definitely Tony's kid. He decides that's exactly what he would do so he set the book down on wooden the coffee table before walking over to the kitchen to start preparing this 'grand meal'.
A few minutes later breakfast was survived. And just as suspected, Morgan fell for his little bluff. Eh, he'll tell her the truth some day. "Is it good?" He smiles at her as she almost finished her waffle before he even got to take a bite of his own.
"It's really good!" She exclaims as she takes a few more bites of the surpy waffle. Bruce chuckles at her hyperness. That syrup definitely won't help.
"That's good." He takes a bite of his own waffle. The two enjoyed their delicious breakfast. Soon, Bruce started to clean up the small mess he made in the kitchen. As he did that Morgan ran out of the kitchen to play with her toys again. Bruce caught her and just shook his head and went to clean up the syrupy mess she left behind on the table.
Bruce was nearly finished with the task when he got a phone call. He looked at the caller ID to see that it was Sam Wilson. He rarely talked to the guy but they exchanged numbers just incase of emergencies or if Bruce was needed for some project. This would bet eh first time he called since then. "Hello?" Bruce speaks after pressing the green 'accept' button and putting the phone to his ear.
Sam took a moment to figure out the right way to phrase it. "We need you to come in." He infront Bruce, "this shit is just crazy." He mutters
"What is it?" Bruce questions as he goes to find where Morgan went.
"You just have to see if for yourself..." Sam replies. Bruce pauses, what does he mean?
Bruce thinks for a moment, "I'll be there." He tells him before hanging up. He quickly goes to get Morgan dressed and ready to go with him to the headquarters. The thought still lingered in his mind as he got ready.
"Where are we going Uncle Bruce?" Morgan looks at him curiously as she was taken out to the car.
"We have to go to my work real quick." He explains to her, "you have to behave for me while we're there okay? I'll get you ice cream if you do."
Morgan smiles brightly at this, she loves her ice cream that's for sure. "Okay!" She lets him put her in the car seat. He got her settled before going to the drivers seat and starting the car as fast as he could. He quickly sped out of the drive way and headed to the Avengers headquarters. This would be the first time he saw the new base so he was a little excited to have a reason to go there.
It wasn't too long of a trip, luckily Morgan had a handful of toys to keep occupied with along the way. Eventually the two arrived at the base and parked. "Come on Morgan." Bruce speaks as he goes to get her out of her car seat. "Be on your best behavior okay?" He reminds her, as they walk into the building.
"Woah..." Morgan looks around in awe as they enter through the glass doors. She studies everything around her in amazement. She's never seen anything like this. Past the class walls was a collection of four different wings, the living wing, training wing, medical wing and a smaller wing built for meetings.
Bruce was just as amazed as her, it was way better than before. The two were then greeted by a memorial wall which honored the two heroes, Natasha and Tony. This just blew Bruce away. It was the perfect way to remember the two. Any visitor who came could admire this piece of art. He admired the beautiful work of the two. He noticed some writing at the bottom and went to see what it said. It shows their names, hero names and when they sadly passed along with a small paragraph about the both of them. Bruce looks back up and studies both of the painted figures, especially Natasha. It looked so real, her beauty was really there. She was so beautiful. He let out a small smile then looks at Morgan. Morgan looks at Tony and tears up a little. Bruce noticed the little girl and his heart dropped immediately. "Oh Morgan, it's okay." He kneels down to hug her gently, confronting her as she started to cry.
"I miss daddy." Morgan cries as she hugs Bruce. Bruce gently rubbed her back as she cries into the crook of his neck.
"I know... I know... I miss him just as much." Bruce continued to rub her back. "I bet he misses you too."
Morgan continues to cry, "I want my daddy back. I want to play with him. And I want mommy to be happy." She whimpers.
Bruce just holds her, a few tears setting lose and running down his cheeks. He couldn't agree more. He really wished things were different. It's not fair for her at all. He himself grew up without that fatherly love and could understand how she felt. It broke his heart to see Morgan like this. Bruce held her as she continued to sob as he gently rubbed her back.
Soon the two were greeted by Sam. "Hey, oh..." he frowns as he saw the two crying. He looks at the memorial and quickly connected two-and-two together.
Bruce looks up at Sam quietly as he holds Morgan. He moves to stand up. "Hey." He bluntly replies. "What do you need me for?" He questions as he rubbed crying Morgan's back. "Will this be quick?"
Sam respected this and tried to lead Bruce away from the panting as he told him about what Bruce needed to see. "Depends. Earlier this morning, Wanda called me. She was just walking about the HQ when she noticed something strange. You know that small time traveling do-hicky?"
Bruce raises a brow at that, "Yeah? What about it? I disabled it didn't I?" He questioned as Sam led them to a room. They entered the medial/laboratory wing of the building.
"Well, whatever you did, it was on." Sam replies as he opens the door to one of the medical rooms. What Bruce saw made him almost faint.
