"Will she be okay?" Bruce watched helplessly as paramedics work to stabilize Natasha. After Natasha was shot, he knew it was best to call 911. She needed help and she needed fast, unaware if their medical bay would have the required equipment needed to help her. The paramedics didn't reply to Bruce, too focused on their patient to have time to respond. Natasha was their top priority right now. The ambulance pulls into the hospital and quickly goes to the emergency drop of area. The paramedics work as a team to help get Natasha our carefully. Bruce followed shortly behind as they entered the building and headed down to the ER wing.
They get her to a room but don't allow Bruce in yet. "You can wait here." One of the doctors says before heading into the room, ready to save yet another life. It was all in a days work.
Bruce pales, he didn't like this at all. They wouldn't tell him anything else. He wanted something, he wanted to know if she'll be okay or if he'll still be a father. Bruce's phone was going off like crazy the whole trip but he didn't bother checking it. Now he felt it was okay to update the others about what is happening and where they were taken to. By the time was finished with his phone call a nurse walked over to him, ready to update him. "She's stable, but the doctors need to act fast. Now the rest of our focus is on the baby. The best option is to operate now through a c-section. The mother has agreed requested to talk with you about it."
Bruce nods as he thinks, the baby was only at 16 weeks, "of course." He agrees to going into the room.
The nurse quickly walks off to grab stuff for him to wear while in the room. "Please don't use your phone or anything while in here, we need the most sanitation possible." She explains.
Bruce nods as he quickly got prepared to go into the room, "got it. I finished up my calls aways so that shouldn't be a problem."
The nurse nods, "good. Now come with me." She leads him into the room. Bruce made his way over to Natasha, he couldn't help but tear up a little as he took her hand.
"They'll be too early." Natasha looks at him tearfully as she holds Bruce's hand.
"This will be for the best, that bullet probably injured them. It is a risk to deliver them now, but this can save them. I say we do it." Bruce nods
Natasha thought, he was right. That bullet could have injured the baby badly. Natasha takes a deep breath. "Will I be able to see them? Or will they put me under?"
Bruce shakes his head, "they only numb your body from the waist down. You'll be able to see them and even hear them when they cry." She tears up a little more. "It'll be okay."
Natasha continues to hold his hand, not ever wanting to let go. "I want they, I really do." She cries, "I want to see them so bad."
"You will, you will." Bruce tells her. He looks at the operators. "We would like to go through with the emergency caesarean."
After hearing that the operators quickly worked to get everything ready. Any slower and they could risk the baby's life. They get Natasha ready, injecting her with a few medications to help make the process easier and as painless as can be. Natasha continues to look at Bruce, scared. She hated needles, but she knew that they were needed, so she allowed them. Bruce looks over to see what they were doing. They were already mapping out their incision lines, so far it didn't look like too many were going to be done. Once they mapped it out they started the process. Natasha froze up a little, she felt numb but still didn't like the idea of being cut open. "Relax, it's okay." Bruce tells her, "they know what they're doing, it'll be okay." Natasha nods, trying to claim herself down as she continues to hold his hand. She squeezed it a little more but Bruce was okay with it. He knew she was stressed and allowed her to try to put the stress out. The operators continued to work, making careful and clean incisions. Bruce kept an eye on them, ready to put in his own input. However, he did have the Doctor title but never really looked into this type of surgery during his studies.
One of the operators notices him looking, "so far so good. We're trying to make the smallest cuts possible." They explain.
Bruce nods, "do what you need." A few minutes pass by and Bruce didn't let go of Natasha even in the slightest, not like she would let him anyways. The room fell silent, the only sound coming from the nurses and operator communicating throughout the procedure. Finally, after what felt like hours for Natasha,
the silence fainted away as the beautiful, soft cries could be heard. Bruce's eyes lighted up as he heard them. "They're here, they're here." Bruce looks at Natasha, "my god they're here." He gently kisses her knuckles.Natasha heard them too and sighed in relief, all tension she had fainting away as she listened to the beautiful cries of her newly born child. This moment felt so beautiful to her, it may not be a traditional birth but she didn't care. This procedure was the best for her child, she knew that. "It's a girl." One operator announces out loud as they hand the baby to a nurse to be cleaned off. One operator works on sticking up Natasha as they others start to clear the area.
A nurse walks over to the doctor who led the operation and whispers to them as they go over to where the baby was currently being tended to. "I want to see her." Natasha looks, "can I see her? Please."
"Just hold on, they'll let you." Bruce explains to Natasha as he watches them work. The cries fell silent and Bruce tensed up.
The doctor and nurse worked faster, more in a rush. "We're loosing her." Bruce overheard and he pailed." He looks at Natasha.
Natasha looks at him tearfully, "what did they say?" She failed to hear them.
Bruce just shook his head, "she's going fine." He lied, he didn't want her to freak out. It was best if she was calm and not wanting to murder everybody in the room. Finally, what felt like forever, a nurse walks over while they carry a small blanket in their arms. Inside the small pink blanket was beautiful angel, Natasha already knew that without even having to see her daughter. She moves a little, carefully so she didn't hurt herself anymore.
The nurse hands the baby to her with a small frown. "Something happened..." they start off, "we tried everything we could, there was just something wrong beyond our ability right now. She didn't make it..."
Natasha's heart, dropped. No, it shattered. She wanted to throw up, to scream, or even stab all of the operators and those damn agents. She shook as she looked at the blanket. "No..."
Bruce tears up, "I heard her, her crying..." he cries, "I heard her."
The nurse frowns, "we tried everything we could, she was just very weak. And right her wrist, that bullet basically shattered it. She just couldn't handle it."
Natasha didn't bother listening to them. She slowly moves a hand to the blanket, pulling it away so she can see the baby's face. Her hand shocked as she looks at her. She looks at her daughter tearfully, at a lost for words. She didn't know what to say, or even how to feel. She's been in the presents of death before but never to this extent. Bruce looks at the little baby, it almost hurt too much. "She's so beautiful..." he speaks tearfully, "so beautiful, too beautiful for this world..."
Natasha shakes her head, holding the baby close. "It's okay, we love you." She whispers to the baby, hoping some how they could hear their mother's cries. "It's okay."
Bruce couldn't bare to look anymore, he didn't know what to do. It hurt so much, all that time waiting, hoping... Miracles happen, and one was needed right now. He prayed that another miracle would come, just one more. He lets out a cry of frustration before storming out of the room. Natasha watches him as she cries, "it's okay... you can rest." She whispers, "we love you... My little angel."
Okay, I can't take anymore heart break. I would say, "I hope you enjoyed" but let's be honest here...
